Hello. I have recently welcomed a Border Terrier into my home, having always been a Border Collie owner this is a whole new world. I am reading Pippa's Total Recall book and trying to practise the principles. I live in the middle of open farmland and, great thanks to our farmer, we have access to all the fields. My neighbour and I often walk together. She has 2 labs. Our problem is deer. There are so many of them up here. And it happens in a split second. We are all walking calmly and then a deer shoots up out of the hedge and the dogs shoot after it! We are working on their recall, but how to stop it in the first place? I am trying an emergency 'wait' with my boy and it works in lots of situations, but not in the deer chase. So I am looking for advice on how to stop the chase??
