    Hi everyone

I need some advice please. Luna is now 6 months. Pulls like an ox on the lead. My OH saw online the gingler by Stan Rawlinson. Now watching his dvd both my self and sister thought there were some negative training techniques used. Not cruel but negative. You shake the tiny cat bells three times by waving the lead up and down and the bells shake and make a noise. It was helping with her training but some people’s views say that this may cause fear of certain noises. Which we don’t want. Any opinions grated appreciated. Especially from those who train dogs professionally or have perhaps used this technique within consequences. Luna is so laid back with such an inquisitive and gentle behaviour and we don’t want this to change.

Hi @Tammy Cooke ssome of Stan Rawlinson's advice looks rather dated now and many trainers would avoid using bells/jingles in training because thre are better, positive ways of training. If you aren't comfortable with something to train your dog don't do it. There are plenty of ways to train a nice loose lead walk without using bells and aversives :)

I have a noise phobic dog and I can tell you for free, you should do everything in your power to avoid using noises as aversives. It is distressing to both the dog and owner when they become shut down and terrified by unfamiliar noises.
