Re: The inconsiderateness of other owners. Hahaha I can just imagine you chasing after him going "excuse me! You forgot something!" Lol
Re: The inconsiderateness of other owners. Well done Naya! I was walking through some fields that are owned by the National trust and noticed their sign said it was acceptable to flick dog poo off the track and into the bushes. Shortly after, I held a gate open for a couple of ladies walking their dogs and then found a steaming mound bang in the middle of the path. They only had to flick it into the bushes!
Re: The inconsiderateness of other owners. Number one daughter as a house in the same village as me but hers has a footpath running down the other side of her six foot high fence .... you guessed, she regularly has full poo bags thrown over into her garden. There's another footpath locally, quite narrow between hedges with a tree toward one end. Someone (surely it must be the same person repeatedly?!) chucks their full bags into the branches of the tree - it has a couple of dozen lodged there at any one time. I've got one word for all poo-leavers and bag-bungers ....
Re: The inconsiderateness of other owners. There is a saying among old country folk "it is in the green". This means that if your dog poo is hidden by the grass it is natural and you just leave it there. NO IT IS NOT. It is a smelly and disgusting trap for some unwary person. Funny story. Some years ago my dog pooed. I bagged it and having full hands and no pockets I tied it to Alice's collar. A little further along we encountered a little old lady gardening."What's that around your neck?" she cooed, "is it sweeties?". My daughter and I nearly suffocated trying not to laugh
Re: The inconsiderateness of other owners.
... Funny story....
Reminds me of another funny story. Some years ago a little old lady was walking her dog through a local park when she was mugged and her handbag stolen. A concerned passerby went to see how shaken the old lady was and couldn't understand why she was laughing. It turned out that it was an old handbag reserved for a particular purpose - carrying her dog's poo bags ;D
Re: The inconsiderateness of other owners. Thing the bags to a tree? Seriously?? I had my first two dogs (one after another, not both at once) as my kids were little. I also babysat other people's kids. So when we went out for a walk I would often be pushing a stroller, holding a leash, and managing children. The only way to "hold" the full poo bag would be in the hand that was on the stroller handle, resulting in a poo bag dangling just in front of my baby's face. Ick. So...I would put it in my pocket. No matter how distracted I was, I never once forgot to empty my pocket when I got home
Re: The inconsiderateness of other owners. I honestly don't think people tie poo bags to trees - unless they are trying to make a point about abandoned poo bags. Hmm...think there was a work of art on that in London once...must look it up. I think they are flingers - as in fling it in a tree, bush or hedge. The bags get caught by the loose bit at the top, and look like thy have been tied there. Well, it's a slightly more sane theory, anyway. Or maybe people really are that mad. I have a dickie bag. It's pink. With flowers. http://www.ecodogcompany.com/index.php/component/virtuemart/dicky-bags/pink-flower-detail?Itemid=0

If we don't pass a bin I put the bagged poops in a section of my treat pouch. Sometimes I put my treat pouch in the fridge when I get home if it's got soft food in it (like sausage). Once or twice I have accidentally refrigerated a poo along with it : I know, how utterly appalling.
Re: The inconsiderateness of other owners. Rachael I have burst out laughing at your story!you might have all guessed,it's breakfast time here too while I'm engrossed in poo anecdotes! Have we coined a new term 'Flingers' ? ;D Since I've started walking back out in the desert I see quite a few abandoned deposits....the day I meet my friend there we sometimes bump into a lady and her 2 dogs.......she let's hers just poo and walk on whilst we always pick up.....it makes my friend absolutely boil, one day she said 'would you like me to give you a bag 'and the lady said,No,it's fine,it's only the desert'....so My friend bent down and very carefully picked her dogs poo up and walked on with it to embarrass her......it didn't make a blind bit of difference! Also my poo story.......when Dex was younger and I wanted to keep his walks shorter ( or limit pulling opportunities : ) I used to drive him to the desert ....there are no poo bins in the desert so get it homeI used to dangle it out the car window and run the window up....merrily driving along with a noxious bauble hanging out the window!using nappy bags at the time and not proper poo bags I had borrowed Chris's car ( which is NOT a dog car) you can guess( and picturing this remember that Dex's poos are soft at the best of times).........the bag went splat and broke on the window AND with the force of moving air forced the contents up onto the soft top roof...... Good gracious, the cleanup operation took longer than the walk and Chris now forever hides his keys! ;D ;D ;D Moral.....don't be tight like me and use a well known supermarkets budget nappy bags for your poo bags! ;D

Re: The inconsiderateness of other owners. Angela your stories are priceless and they are the a real good start to my day whilst I sit here with my second cup of tea, boys gone to School. Thank you, thank you xxx ;D ;D

I have been on many walks in fields, woods etc. and I have seen them hooked and tied on at eye level on trees, so no way they have got caught. I don't think people are mad either, I think they are just damn lazy and don't give a damn about other people or their environment
Re: The inconsiderateness of other owners. But it's more effort to tie a bag to a tree than it is just to throw it down. So they are going to a bit of trouble to do this (if the bags really are tied on) - so being lazy isn't the answer for why people put poo bags in trees?

They think they've done their bit by picking it up and then can't be bothered to dispose of it properly! I've seen bagged poos just sitting by the side of a footpath like the pop fairy is going to come along and collect it. They might as well not bother picking it up at all because at least then it will wash away with rain and degrade into the soil - it's not going to do that in a poo bag!! I've seen a bagged poo sitting neatly on the top of a fence post!

Re: The inconsiderateness of other owners. Maybe by tying it to a tree they feel better about themselves for not leaving the poo on the ground or the poo bag. But ultimately they are lazy and inconsiderate whichever way you look at. Just pick it up and dispose what is so difficult about that. People will have a go at children if they throw litter which I don't find acceptable either, but poo ...
