Sam has a somewhat tatty old very large cushion as a day bed , I say day bed because the evidence points to him taking over the sofa at night In the sales , I spotted a lovely memory foam bed , removable cover, just the ticket thought I and so even though the reduced price was extortionate , I bought it and duly removed his tatty cushion to the out house and plonked down the new bed . For four days , Sam approached with caution , once only cautiously placing a leg on one corner, but flatly refusing to lay on it . I even tried putting Sea Biscuits on it ( his most favourite food in the world ) but to no avail , he just sort of glared at me , glared in disgust at the pricey bed and lay on the floor looking miserable . Eventually , in frustration I got his old bed back in place , all his Christmas`s had come at once , the utter joy on his usual serious face said it all I sold the new bed on a local Facebook selling page, for a fraction of what I paid for it , someone hasn't half got a bargain : :
Re: The new bed . Spoilt rotten these dogs aren't they and they dont even know it! You'll have made someone's dog happy Kate, even if not your own x
Re: The new bed . Oh that is so good! Well done Sam for sticking it out. ;D I had lesser problem when I moved Lady's under table kitchen bed out to the garage and made her a nice comfy bed on an old sofa in the back room. She religiously went under the table at night for ages before eventually taking to the new arrangement. Yesterday I invested in a brand new piece of deep and fluffy vet bed and put that on the sofa with the front folded under to make a bit of a lip. She was bit suspicious and sniffed it a lot but settled down alright and this morning was snuggled up as cosy as anything in it.
Re: The new bed . Oh how happy he must have been to see his old bed back. It might be tatty to you Kate but to Sam it's his comfy bed he doesn't care what it looks like the tatty bits add to the comfort. ;D
Re: The new bed . Chepi is still not interested in her new bed, with spare cover. My day care owner has offered to buy it - it's less than a week old. Why would you bother when you have your own end of the sofa and a human to lollop all over?
Re: The new bed . ;D ;D ;D Do you know the children's picture book, Schnitzel von Krumm Basketwork by Lynley Dodd - it's your story in rhyme!
Re: The new bed . Poppy did the same with the beautiful new wicker basket and sheepskin I got her. HATED it! Eventually I got the old bed out again, to her delight. She has since accepted the sheepskin, but still abhores the wicker basket. :
