    Hi all

I absolutely love this forum and had been a great help so far :)

I need help though, I'm actually at my wits end, I just don't know what to do...

We picked up our 8 week old puppy, Flo, on Wednesday and she's great, hard work but great.

However night time... She's a tiny terror...

She sleeps for maximum of 2 hours before starting to move around and have a whine to be let out for toilet.

We've had her crate next to the bed, we take away water an hour before, her last meal is 6pm.

If left she goes way past whining crying... We getting screaming and barking, it honestly sounds like she's being killed... Its got to the point the neighbours are complaining.

She's whined a lot since bringing her home... She does it for attention and we are ignoring that behaviour now and using distractions.

I apologise for long post but we are at our wits end and need some advice :(

I forgot to mention, she goes to bed at 1030-1130pm.

She whinges to go out, and hasn't used a puppy pad, she's taught herself to go to back door,is this a failure, by not is enforcing the use of pads?

I'd pick up the water earlier than you are, 2-3 hours before bedtime it gives her a chance to properly empty her bladder and leave using puppy pads now go straight to toilet training outside and praise her heavily when she gets it right. Stay calm and she will eventually follow but if you get tense then she'll follow that as well, much easier said than done.

Try to get her nose working as well using sniff mats or throwing treats in garden for her to find. I've found sniffing works a lot better than physical exercise to tire my pup out

I am definitely going to take the water up this evening.

I'll continue the toilets trips and not revert to pads, especially as she's never used one and we have been lucky with this, no accidents.

Thank you for responding, starting to feel like I'm not alone!

Not too early but if lights out is 11pm we take up the water 8ish but make sure she's had one final gulp, chuck a treat into her water bowl.

Get her mind working it will have good results. There is a thread somewhere called puppy blues and without exception everyone says it gets easier and it does.

She's so young if you play with her either with games or through training it will tire her out but she needs a lot of guidance at this early stage and she'll be teething soon so some puppy appropriate chew toys might be worth getting
