Oh Lynne I'm with you I just LOVE Newfoundlands, super nature and brilliant with children BUT expensive to insure and they don't have a very long life span :( and you would need a bigger house ;) xx

    Wow, lots happening! :)

Whatever house you buy, make sure you can hose it out ;D Newfoundlands drool like there is no tomorrow. They are not all easy-going like most Labs are, so pick your breeder very, very carefully and make sure the parents are relaxed, friendly dogs. :) I'm sure you would do that whatever you were looking at, though :)

Lynne, they have a lifespan of 8 - 10 years as most giant breeds do. How exciting for you, a whole new chapter. I am sure you will give lots of thought to a breed that best suits you, your lifestyle and Jasper too. Would consider getting a biitch as how do you think Jasper would react to having a male friend on his territory? :)

i will make sure whatever breed i get, will be 100% health checked,.....the site as taught me a lot, ....i love my lab, no matter what happens i will love my boys x.....what large breed can any one recommend ?

How exciting, Lynne!! Lots of fun for you this next year!

Whenever I tell people that Simba is half Newfie, they say, "They are such nice dogs!" So I have never heard anything bad about them. Although the hair would definitely be an issue, for sure.
