Re: The slipper wars..... I think the problem is that, as an unobservant human, you simply failed to notice the moment when 'your' slippers became 'her' slippers. Since that moment, you have rudely been stealing her slippers and putting them on your feet. As a polite and caring lady, Holly has not made a big deal of this, she has just been trying to get a message through to you about what is acceptable use of her slippers and what isn't. She doesn't believe in punishment of her pets, only positive reinforcement of desirable behaviours. Holly is now going to find out if Ruth has the same lack of understanding, or whether (having had the opportunity to learn from watching you) she will accept more readily that the ownership of her slippers has transferred. (This is all Pongo's interpretation of events, which he asked me to pass on to you.)
Re: The slipper wars..... Pongo is a wise and learn-ed pup! Thanks for sharing with us 2 legged pets.
Re: The slipper wars..... Yes, I shall sit at Pongo's feet and wait for more pearls of wisdom to drop from his lips. Or was that just a particularly slimy bit of drool....?
Re: The slipper wars..... Thank you, Pongo, for the canine perspective. So far my pile of slippers by the bedroom door seems to have fooled Holly. My slippers have been safe. Holly's widening of the conflict to include Ruth's slipper might have been a mistake. Ruth drives a hard bargain. Holly's raid on Ruth's slippers was met with "no slippers no breakfast", and the restoration of the slipper to its rightful owner. What will tomorrow bring?
Re: The slipper wars..... My man, I bet on Holy, all in, that this is Soon To be. Great story, btw! I really enjoyed it. It reminded me about the times when I left my shoes for around the house, garden and yard outside by the door. To have them at an easy reach, comfy and convenient... Right? Well Bucky thought so, too. But for other reasons. He started playing the Reverse-fetch-the-shoe game. That's "shoE", singular. He would go and get only one of each kind of the shoes that were left outside and put them all over the place, like we were playing find the item. He had me Bucky:Me 100+ to 0, because I always had to either walk in two different shoes or barefoot to get the hidden around the yard parts of the pairs. It was quite amusing actually but the need to have my shoes when I need them got over me and I eventually started keeping them in the house, in a closet, out of my sneaky boy's reach.
Re: The slipper wars..... That sounds like a nightmare scenario: Holly taking my sippers and hiding them!
Re: The slipper wars.....
Holly taking my slippers and hiding them!
Pongo would like to refer you to his previous answer. Whose slippers?
Re: The slipper wars..... Sorry. The Holly's slippers that she allows me to wear when she doesn't need them.
Re: The slipper wars..... Tatze is a slipper stealer too - but she will chew them. So we now have a slipper cupboard - problem solved!
Re: The slipper wars..... this must be common if i go out and come home i can often only find one slipper and have to search for the other one usually up the garden somewhere not chewed but mouthed enough to be wet recently we were sitting in the garden my partner took his shoes and socks off milly thought that running off with a sock was great fun we coulnd not get it back as we were laughing at her she has a habit of getting near us when we put a hand out to take something she runs away previous owner must of played that game i think
Re: The slipper wars..... We've seen a change of tactics today. Holly waited until after breakfast before taking Ruth's slippers. As soon as Ruth went in for a shower the slipper was stolen!
