... Aka Merlin, is nine weeks old and 7.8 kg today. He is a lovely little man; he and Poppy are getting along nicely. He will always go outside to do a pee if the front door is open, and nights are slowly getting better, I think. Tonight I am going to set the alarm for 2 am to try to preempt him waking and crying. He is not terrifically keen on his pen - in fact I am sitting in it with him now, to encourage him to chill in it, picture if you will! We went to our first puppy class today - six retriever puppies (3 Labradors, 2 flat coats and a golden) of between 9 and 15 weeks old. First they were allowed to play a little, then we practiced walking with the pup off the lead, using loads of treats. We did two recalls, one without any distraction and one between two other handlers and their puppies - I was so proud of Merly as he came belting over to me, ears flapping, as soon as he heard me call him and use the whistle! Lots of treats and praise. Then we did a tiny bit of walking on the lead, then another short play session, then home - which involved a ride in the crate in the car. Tomorrow we are going to have our first visit to the vet, just to say hello and to get weighed and have a general checkup. The world is such a big place - so much to learn! Here's my little magician:
He is adorable Karen, his colouring is superb. Good boy Merlin for doing soooo well at your first class. Good luck at the vets little man You are quite the photographer Karen xx
Merlin is stunning! And he will be doing his magic on everyone he meets....I would love to get a companion for Cooper but he is three now and I just can't imagine going through puppyhood again!! I am too darn old!!! Never thought I could make it through BUT I did and both of us have a fantastic bond. But he DOES rule the house and ME! But who cares!!! Labs are soooo affectionate and loving.....what wonderful companions and partners in life.
Oh he looks like crème caramel, nom nom nom. That puppy class sounds really great, what a superstar at only 9 weeks!
