We stayed here overnight last week with both dogs - not only are they welcome in the rooms, but they are welcome in the bar too. They got given dog biscuits before we got a drink! Oh, and it just so happens to be a microbrewery, with up to 16 real ales on tap... which, plus the fact it's dog friendly, gives you 17 good reasons to visit. It's a few miles east of Windermere. Didn't look quite as it does on their website last week, mind - probably because it was snowing...

The previous night we had stayed at the Selkirk Arms in Kirkcudbright in Dumfries and Galloway. Dogs weren't allowed into the bar, but they have dog friendly bedrooms - we had one with access directly out into the garden, and it's a lovely little hotel with good food. For a Monday night in February, it was busy - plenty of locals coming in to eat too, which has to be a good sign!

From Kirkcudbright we drove down to the Mull of Galloway, where the café is strictly no dogs... despite the freezing temperatures and the complete lack of other custom. The staff were friendly though and even came out to say hello to the dogs - one of them had two working spaniels - but there was no way they were going to be allowed over that threshold!

They sound like lovely places to stay Clare, glad you had a good time, shame about the cafe though :(

    Look great.
Like eating out, but think I am the only one in my house that does now. Scott was always my staunch allie
    Hey ho!

Roll on summer holidays I think. Would be lovely to get away. We are dog-sitting at Easter so decided that would be a no go.

Like to live vicariously through others, me, so keep them coming!
