Re: The Winnie the ..... ;D ;D ;D ;D She wasn't that good or super in my opinion, Julie. I was just talking to the keeper afterwards about her still getting way too overexcited when it was raining pheasants so she would drop the one she was bringing back and go after the next one. I thought I'd cured her of that. That was when he said there wasn't much wrong with her and she was really well behaved and under control and he didn't have any worries about her. He suggested a new training regime that I'll try when it's not tipping down.

Or maybe you'll post when you do it? I've been really thinking about the gap between my dog and dogs able to go shooting - in terms of being able to control their excitement. Critical where Charlie is concerned! What this has done for me is made me realise the gulf between well behaved pet able to trot round familiar fields, and the excitement of a shoot. I don't want to fall into the trap of thinking "it's ok, we can do the Common and the beach, we're done". So I'm trying to think of things that will help me work on Charlie's self control.
Re: The Winnie the ..... Nothing spectacular. Just when she brings a dummy back toss another one over her head. Initially just behind her then increase the distance to a full blooded throw. Dog only gets to retrieve the new dummy after the one in her mouth has been delivered and she's been released.
