I had a lovely ripe peach on the table ready to eat after my lunch. The phone rang and when I returned Charlie had eaten it stone aswell. He looked so very guilty. Nothing is sacred in my house. Helen x

I had to put Amy in her bed for the first time tonight, a big wet nose kept appearing on the chopping board as I made tea. :-\

I hope you get another peach soon!

    LOL. Cheeky boy.

We had a plastic bag of ripe tomatoes disappear once. Including the plastic bag. Then there was the bowl of pears (he left the stalks), the bowl of raw quinces, the half pound of butter, the pizza, the ripe Brie at the picnic, the vol au vents at my Dad's 70th birthday party.... That was our first dog, Nicolae - a master of stealth. We almost lost a chicken the other weekend to Obi though - came back into the kitchen to see it teetering on the edge of the bench and Furry Features hurriedly adopting the sit position.

A wedge of. Not a whole Brie. But a large wedge.

Then there was another picnic where he inhaled the filling out of my large slice of chicken, leek and ham pie, leaving me only the crust. And the time at a Flyball conpetition when I was about to take a bite out of the hot bratwurst sausage in my sausage and mustard bun only to see it slowly sliding away from me into the bun with a Labrador attached to the other end.

About 3 years ago it was Christmas we had just finished dinner and had left the turkey in the kitchen on the side. I went to make a cup of tea only to witness Hattie grabbing the turkey off the side and dragging it to the floor for her and a waiting Felix, our then 27 year old cat who was an amazing boy, to tuck into for their Christmas dinner ;D. No Boxing Day left overs for us that year, but a very funny site. ;D Helen x

My other half tells a similar tale of a whole ham disappearing, completely, without trace, at a Sunday lunch he'd been invited to. Foolishly, he brought his dog... One small and very contented-looking working cocker; several fed up adults and children, with a vegetarian roast dinner... ;D

Don't think he was invited back again!!!!

    :)
Anything left in reach will be taken and eaten here. I have lots of family and friends staying over quite frequently and lots of children about - wonderful for Digby in many ways, but lots of opportunities to learn some very naughty behaviours often pay off (especially food left unattended on sides).
A whole slab of butter was the worst to clean up after ...bleurgghh.

I find that visitors don't take me seriously when I say that anything edible has to be put in a separate room with the door kept shut. They pretty soon find out that Labradors have a generous and wide-ranging definition of 'edible'. My Dad lost a kilo of muesli, a packet of skim milk powder, a container of bran flakes, half a canister of fibre supplement (not really necessary from my dog's perspective after the muesli and the bran but what's a dog to do, waste it?) and a tub of yoghurt that way.

LoL to all of this. You need to own a Lab to fully appreciate it. Lady's claims to fame include the side of salmon at our 40th wedding anniversary party (I got the blame for that ). And best (worst) of all the half a roast chicken she stole from the kitchen of a house on one of our walks when I took my eye off the ball for a moment.

Now there's some skills - stealing from the kitchen of a house you don't even live in. She's good, very good.
