Poor Merlin. Hopefully it passes. Snowie had blood dripping from his penis about 14 months ago. Ultrasound and needle biopsy showed healthy prostate, no pockets of infection, but larger prostate than a neutered dog, but normal for intact dog. Urine test showed no infection, although vet said urine should be more acidic (to ward off infection) than Snowie’s was, but he was on cortisone at the time for itchiness and she said that would increase thirst, thus drinking water and more dilute urine. Anyway, it’s been over a year and no sign of blood. My vet said these things can come and go, not an emergency, and just to monitor it. I hope Merlin’s resolves by itself.
Thanks, that's much what she said to me, too. No infection, slightly larger prostate than normal, but there are lots of bitches in heat around and that might account for it... We are to go back in a month for a check up, unless there is a recurrence.
Does Stanley know pics of his willy are being shared with all and sundry? Knowing Stanley he wouldn't mind, in fact, he may be quite secretly pleased .
It's looking much better tonight. He worries me so much I've worried more these past 2 years than I have in my other 27. He's pretty happy about it, he's hoping it might attract him one of the pretty girls on the forum
Well he's still got this wound. It's not getting any worse but it's not getting any better. It's because he won't stop licking it but I don't know how to make him stop He can get cones off and it's too low for a t shirt to cover it. Looks like a trip to the vets.. again
Sorry this is still bothering him @JenBainbridge I know it's no good for doing wees and poos, but could you put the t-shirt on his back legs and tie it in a knot round his chest, this should cover the wound and may stop the licking for a bit? I do feel your pain, when monts had his abscess drained last year, the worse bit was stopping him licking the shaved leg patch. It went bright red and I was really worried about it getting infected.
Thanks we tried boxers when he was neutered. All that happened was he got them off and I got told off for cutting a tail hole in OH's Calvin Kleins Might try something like this and shame him into not licking himself
But in all seriousness I might have to invest in a medical shirt and just hope he doesn't hate it too much
Uh, couldn't you have just turned them round and used the willy-flap as a tail-flap? Or were they willy-flapless?
They were willy flapless.. I think In my defence, I'm a girl who has never bought a man a pair of boxers in my life. Who would pay that much for pants. I pay £1 a pair from primark
I do love this forum. We share things, publically, that we normally wouldn't admit to anyone. It's so... inclusive.
I get OHs boxers from Aldi, 3 for a fiver. If I'm feeling especially generous he can have the ones from Sainsburys.
Although the boxers and willy flap direction of this thread is more fun, have you tried bitter apple or another bitter spray? You can get some that are designed for skin and mention wounds. Although I wouldn’t put it directly on the sore bit, you can put it round it. It worked well when the Pig had her dew claw removed. She’d go to lick, sniff it suspiciously then think better of it.
Finn loved his medical shirt! We called him GI Finn ....He didn’t mind to wear it. We tried a shirt of mine, a cone, a collar, and the last was a success, that was his medical shirt!
