I have a 5month old lab puppy and noticed when we go on walks and she is sniffing i sometimes hear a thumping type sound. Anybody else experience that? I took her to the vet but she didn't do it. They were thinking allergy related but she has no signs of allergy issues and i am not giving her pills without a confirmed diagnosis. I tried google searching the issue but not many results. I found a Pitbull video with a very similar noise but no diagnosis mentioned.
This is very normal, it's just loud sniffing. It may be the soft palate moving whilst the dog sniffs. I have many dogs in class that sniff this loudly when we play Find It or even when they've just lost a treat.
Mine does it as well especially at the Dog Park! I was glad to see you post this and to see the replies!!
