We get lots of pretty spectacular storms here, and I've been worried they would scare Willow and Shadow. In August, we can have one every afternoon, and sometimes the building actually shakes with them. It's somewhat dramatic. I know loads of dogs that, understandably, don't like them, and I was worried that my two would be scared, too.

Fast forward to Friday. It was a bit of a dim evening, but nothing special, so I set off on my evening walk as normal. About ten minutes in, it started to rain. Then, the heavens opened. Raindrops the size of a euro coin. This was not good because I wasn't wearing anything waterproof, but I trudged on nonetheless, feeling the water running down my arms inside my clothes. Then the storm arrived. Well, it was loud. Very, very loud. The dogs didn't flinch at all, just kept on running around like normal, probably wondering why I wasn't being as fun as I usually am, asking them to do things for treats and pine cones. Forty minutes later and I was hiding under a bridge with them while the storm passed directly overhead. Not a quiver. Just looks of "Come on, Mum, let's get going! This is booooooring!!".

    Bless them. So brave.

We all had to be towelled down before we were let in when we got home :D

So good to hear they passed the storm test with flying colours :D. Juno loves the pouring rain and if it's blowing a gale at the time that's a major bonus. It makes me laugh as her head is tilted up to the sky, eyes closed, and you can see her breathing in all the scents in the rain and wind

Bravehearts :) My last Lab was terrified of thunder , just went to pieces , thankfully Sam and Millie ignore it . In our local forest is a vast viaduct, we were right under it when a fast train went over, both carried on sniffing , didn't react at all . I love the smell of the air after a storm :)

That's a great result Fiona specially when it's something that happens regularly. We've never been out in a storm and we don't have many but in the house Dexter doesn't seem bothered,he does lift his head as if to say what is it?When we get the rare chance to walk in the rain ( which I love and have been known to dump whoever I'm with to run home as fast as I can to take Dexter out !) he stops allthe time to shake himself,I mean constantly like he thinks he's had the hose over him and needs to shake off! Well done, Shadow and Willow.

Charlie is untroubled by thunder. He is not all that keen on heavy rain though. He'd much rather be indoors than walk in heavy rain. :)

That's great for such young pups Fiona. Hattie & Charlie don't bat an eyelid at thunder and we have been caught out in it too. I think it is down to the human reactions, if you don't make a fuss it's less likely they will as there's nothing to pick up on. We don't mind heavy rain either x :)

It's great because I love our storms. It would be a shame if they became stressful for us because the dogs were stressed. They do the same as Dex and shake all the time :)

That sounds like an excellent reaction. I don't think I'd be as brave, though my dogs would probably be fine!
