Bit worried about Rory pup(3). He had a flare if his colitis. Its under control again now but he seems a bit flat. He's lost over a kilo in weight so is super skinny at the moment again. Im slowly getting him back onto his normal food and hes happy. I've been polishing up some of his still silly puppy behaviours and doing some training and he seems as entusiastic as normal just less energetic. Ive dropped his exercise down and am stopping him running around so much. We've had a quiet afternoon walk for an hour which was mostly lead walking and he went straight to sleep when we got in. Maybe it's the heat or he's just got no extra energy due to his weight loss but I'm a bit concerned.
Sorry to hear this @SwampDonkey , that Rory is acting out of character. Does he need blood tests or something?
I'll just keep feeding him his normal diet for a few days and then if hes still flat I speak to my vet. He does seem hungry just tired.
They are such a worry! Benson is 3, and he has quiet days now. I do get so worried though. He hasn't lost any weight, far from it. I hope Rory is OK, and it's just a blip caused by his flare up x
I hoping so I just don't like him looking so thin. he was so thin and ill as a pup it really worries me and I hate it. I also worry about the long term affects of his early starvation and illness.hes such a lovely dog hes getting to the point in his life where we just love each others company . I seem to spend so much time telling him hes a good boy and a quick stroke to the head because he's just so wonderful. It's also the anniversary of Doug's death tomorrow so im so sensitive today
@SwampDonkey I am sorry to hear that Rory is feeling poorly. I feel so helpless when Harley is flat or doesn't want to eat and I really dislike that feeling. Harley is really sensitive to the heat and goes off her food on hot days, so it may be a combination of things that affecting him. I will be thinking of you tomorrow, from across the world, anniversaries of passings are like scraping at emotional wounds with a pot scourer, and nothing can take it away until it fades. But please know that I am thinking of you, and its awful that you are worried about Rory and heartsore too.
Big hugs for you at this difficult time. Rory is probably feeling flat due to his recent flare-up of colitis and weight loss. Hopefully he will perk up with gentle rest & food.
Aw poor guy! Hope he perks up...it's probably a combination of a bunch of things as you say, but it's hard not to worry. Hugs to you, hope he's feeling better tomorrow!
Mentally he seems fine just flat. I gave him a pamper afternoon yesterday he likes that. Lots of brushing and massage.
