Re: Todays mishaps :0( Oh poor girlie, have you thought about those boots you can buy from Pets at Home which I think tie on? Definitely don't push the cone as you may need to use one in the future so a gentle introduction is best as others have said. Hattie had the same reaction when we had to use one after her spay it really upset me :'( I don't think you are being too soft at all. I hope Scout's paw is a little better today x
Re: Todays mishaps :0( Was the plastic cone the see-through variety or solid (let no light through)? With the solid/non-see-through ones they can get stressed because suddenly their vision is hugely curtailed. It's scary. The see through ones are better. As it's her front feet that are the problem you may find that she can still reach them with a soft or inflatable cone. But she may do ok with a see-through traditional cone if you haven't tried that already
Re: Todays mishaps :0( Its much better today and she is not limping anymore. Its still there but not raw and weeping, All nice and dry thank god. Iv still put the bandage and sock back on because she still wants to lick it. I think tomorrow I will not put it on and stay in all day with her making sure she doesn't lick it. She is definitely more of herself today too, no more sad eyes. The cone is white, it does let light through but you cant see through it {if that makes sense} Thanks so much for all the help and advice, you have saved me about £50+
Re: Todays mishaps :0( To my uneducated eye that looks much better....as you say nice and dry! Fingers crossed it heals up quickly

Re: Todays mishaps :0(
Oh my goodness, we tried a cone on her last night, she was petrified! She froze, and started to pant and shake. She never moved for about 15 mins- she just half lay down (bum in the air head on the floor). I was talking to her, reassuring her constantly but nothing help. She wouldn't lift her head up. She then started to give out little pitiful whimpers, it broke my heart. I put her in her bed in hope that's she might relax but no she was still froze. All in all she wore it about an hour and it's safe to say she couldn't cope with it on. My partner is always accusing me of being too soft and not persevering but even she agreed we had to take it off. So sock on to stop her licking but during the night she chews through the sock. Fingers crossed it a bit better today.
Poor lamb I nearly cried reading that :'( hope her foot heals nice and quickly
Re: Todays mishaps :0( Glad Scouts paw is getting better The cone made Harley a bit loopy for a few hours, then she settled down. Every time she walked around she bashed into things (my legs mainly). I brought an inflatable one and it was fab
