Re: Today's the day! Pics added! Love the one where she's asleep with your daughter. I wouldn't move either. Beautiful photos of Annabelle and your children. Hope you had a good night.
Re: Today's the day! Pics added! Thank you everyone. She is doing really well. I ended up putting the "nighttime crate" in the room downstairs closest to the yard. My youngest would go crazy if she saw or heard her in the middle of the night and Annabelle had been pretty content in there as long as she had the blanket from the breeder. I put her to bed at 10:30 set my alarm for 2:30 and she was still asleep. Took her out and she peed and pooped. Settled easily in the crate woke her up at 6:20 prepared her breakfast(soaked in a bit of water) and she was standing up awake when I went to take her out. You can tell she's settling in, the rambunctious mouthy pup has appeared. I've decided to leave her tether on in the house so I can supervise and control her around my kids. Quick question. I'm trying to give her quiet time in her crate so she's not being manhandled by the kids. This morning she's been crying and putting up quite the fuss which I am ignoring but she got so vocal that I put a blanket over the front of the crate so she would settle. Which she did very quickly once she couldn't see the kids. She wants to be wherever the kids are but of course is getting quite worked up and excitable. Was that ok to cover? It was after being fed, being outside and playtime. Once she settled and was quiet i uncovered the front and she has now gone to sleep. Thank you

Just like a baby, Annabelle needs to sleep. Your daughter sounds so sweet with her. How cute do they look together ! Whereabouts are you ? The weather looks to hot for England at the moment ! Maggie x [/quote] Maggie, I live near Vancouver Canada. We've had a touch of sunshine lately.
Re: Today's the day! Pics added! Definitely fine to cover the crate Some dogs/pups feel happier if the roof, side and back walls are covered all the time (though some can develop a habit of pulling the blanket through the crate wire for entertainment ).
Re: Today's the day! Pics added! Sounds like she is settling great,I put a cover on the tops of Dexters crate too to make a 'roof' and it feel More cosy and safe for him x
Re: Today's the day! Pics added! Ah Vancouver, never been but seen photos, looks beautiful, you have lots of places for beautiful walks, especialy when she is older. Sounds like she is doing great, and you are doing the right things, fine to cover the crate, good idea, Maggie xx
Re: Today's the day! Pics added! What lovely photos. It's a good idea to cover the crate as others have said it makes it safe and cosy. Alice
Re: Today's the day! Pics added! I've always covered the crate with Penny, it was the only way she would settle. I still do it now and probably will do as long as she continues to use the crate - now she knows that when the cover is down she has to settle and it's quiet time.
Re: Today's the day! Pics added! Lauren Do you completely cover the cage so there's no way of seeing out or do you leave a side uncovered?

I completely cover the crate with an old duvet at night, but during the day it's not covered. But if the pup settles better, covered is the way to go anyway - day or night imo My brother says I think she's a parrot! :
