Hi we have Hugo who is 13wks old and weighs approx. 10/11kg. He is clean all day and evening and asks to go out. He had been clean during the night at first but has now started pooing and weeing during the night. We have shifted his last meal to 4pm and also cut down the amount of food he is now getting 145grms of Purina Pro Plus puppy. Last night we took him out at about 10.30pm where he did a wee, we got up at 12.30am and he went outside and weed and pooed so we thought we had cracked it but no again this morning poo and wee. Do we take his water bowl up. He sleeps in the utility room either by himself or with one of the older dogs, he is not fussed either way. The other thing we did yesterday was to make sure that he had lots of sleep time. Are we doing the right things and are we expecting too much from Hugo.

Hi there and welcome. It sounds as though Hugo has got into the habit of peeing and pooing at night - at 13 weeks he is old enough to hold it from 10:30 to early morning. He will grow out of it eventually, but the easiest way to train it would be to use a crate at night, as puppies instinctively don't like to soil their sleeping area.

Thank you for that, if we use a crate what size would you recommend?

Hi and welcome to the forum. You should choose a crate that he can comfortably stretch out in, but no bigger, or you run the risk of him making a "bed" are and a "toilet" area. If you get a crate that is larger, so he has room to grow into it, you can put a divider in it to reduce it to an appropriate size.

You will need to accustom him to it, too, by giving him treats in there etc. Here is an article which contains lots of links to the specifics of how to crate train your puppy: http://www.thelabradorsite.com/your-labrador-crates-and-crate-training/
