Chapter 11: Basic Recall, exercise 5.

Just wondered if there is a specific way this task should be done?

Currently George wouldn’t be interested with food on a plate just out of reach as we have trained him not to steal.

So when he realises what we’re up to i.e watching us with the whistle he just comes before we even blow.

The only real way he will stand next to us with food is when we’re getting his dinner ready, would this count or be too likely to fail at this step? Or perhaps food on the floor, telling him ‘off' then blowing the whistle to come to us; would that class as recall away from food?

Unsure how best to tackle, he’s a nosey fella always wondering what we’re up to.

I just made the food more interesting….

You just have to put him in the situation where he thinks he might get the food…but don’t make it too hard.
This a long time ago, by the way – I do now have a fast recall away from food! ;D ;D ;D

That one is exactly George, no interest in whats up on the side because he knows he wont get it. As he only gets food from us via his dinner, kong or training.

The feeding him little bits then pausing to blow the whilst to bring him away is a good idea we’ll try that.

We tried once whilst my girlfriend was getting his dinner ready, but that is muscle memory for getting his dinner and all excited and the recall basically failed didn’t come straight away and only came after i waved my arms around and his dinner was stopped getting ready.

    Thanks! :)
