I would really appreciate any suggestions on training or games whilst Charlie is wearing his cone for possibly another 3 weeks, he is looking a little fed up and I would like to do something to cheer him up. He is also on lead only walks for another 3 ish weeks too which isn't helping :(

    Thanks everyone xx

Poor Charlie! Can he pick things up in his mouth while wearing the cone? If so you could train learning the names of objects and putting them in a box. Molly loves this game - quite a surprise as it doesn't seem all that interesting to me (It reminds me of Eeyore and his 'useful pot for putting things in'). The other one I've just started with Molly is going in and out of cones by herself (i.e. I stay at one end). We've worked up to a figure of 8 quite quickly but she was confused when I added a third cone. If you don't have cones you could use plastic bottles weighted with pebbles. I think this could work for Charlie if they were well-spaced to allow for his neck-cone.

@Jyssica I started by putting a ball on the floor, saying 'pick it up' (which she already knew), then pointing to the box which was right next to her to start with (she knows to follow my finger) and saying 'put the ball in the box'. When she dropped it in the box I clicked and treated. Gradually extended it with more objects and increased the distance. She still sometimes gets muddled between objects but really enjoys doing it. (She's a bit of a play fanatic - however long walks she's had she's not satisfied until we've played!) I think i put a video on my training log.

I hope Charlie has a quick recovery! I play hide and seek in the house. A bit simple, but she eats it up.
I place Mocha in a sit and stay position, then I hide and call her release word and then she has to find me. When she does I call out "Boo" or her name and give her a good scratching, and she loves it.

Thanks Joy, yes he can pick things up with the cone on. I have done a bit of this kind of game a while ago and he became excellent at putting the items in a box so will have another go with him. Good idea about the bottles too. A few things to be going on with :) x

Thanks for all your kind wishes, we hope his wound heals up quickly too, it's miserable for him being stuck in a cone for so long :( x
