I was just wondering whether people kept a training log/diary of what training they do with there dog, i have just started using one for puzzle and barley and wanted to know if other people done the same with there dogs. i use it to see what areas i need to improve on next training session and to keep track of how they are progressing and what activities we do so i can vary it as much as possible.

No, I am far too lazy for that ;D But I guess the curriculum in our obedience classes kind of functions as a log for us, as each 8 week session involves learning a bunch of few things (something new is introduced in each class so that becomes our goal for the next week).

It's a great idea to keep track of how you're going :) I just try to keep it in my head but it'd be nice it have a proper record of progress.

I do. I need to know, and have it clear in my head, what I've got to do next, otherwise walks become random and training sessions become play - then I think I've done lots but have no progress to show, but all I've done is messed about.

I don't keep an organised log though apart from for retrieves now - for the last couple of weeks I've been keeping a note of what retrieves I've done and whether Charlie did them ok. But I always work out what's next, otherwise nothing gets done.

I have to also write down what manners I'm working on, or those don't get done either. It's probably automatic for experienced people to do "sit when you've been invited out of the car" and things like that, but it's not something I just know, so I need a list of those too.

But I am SUCH a "things to do" and check list person, I can't operate my life without lists!

I don't do a log Annabelle exactly but I do have a notepad that I make notes in about what I want to do,I love having the resources of the iPad but I'm old fashioned and like to have pages to flick back and forth.this became apparent when I bought Total Recall on the Kindle...very convenient but it's hard to quickly go back to a page if you want to read something again.....no being able to turn the page over to mark something! :D
It's a great idea and in a haphazard way I suppose I have got a kind of log.....I always write down when I'm messing about with his food quantities too, especially through Total Recall when I was gambling his rewards,I would have got lost and maybe a little fat dog if I hadn't been careful!
