We have an 8 year old Chiweenie and two 7 month old labs that are a week apart. We got the yellow lab as a puppy and she was able to learn from our Chiweenie "how to play". She knows not to bite too hard when playing with other dogs or with us and our 5 kiddos. We adopted the other 7 month old chocolate lab from some older friends who had bought her as a pup but just took too much time and energy for them to keep. She was 6 months when we got her. She is a super sweet and well behaved dog, however she had never been around other dogs before we got her. Our Chiweenie quickly taught her not to bite or play hard with him, but our yellow lab won't "get mad" at the chocolate lab when she plays too rough. The yellow lab just keeps getting bit too hard on the neck and she will just whimper and try to run away. The chocolate lab is a loving dog but just doesn't understand that she's playing too rough. She never plays rough with our kids, just with the yellow lab. Anyone have any ideas on how to teach her not to bite our other lab so hard? We are afraid she is going to get really hurt. We would appreciate any advice!!
