Harv and I had a good training session at a class on Saturday morning. Having initially started outside a prolonged downpour resulted in a transfer to the small hall, but leaving the exit doors open because it was still very warm. Towards the end of the class the instructor placed 4 cones out, one towards each corner of the hall and each cone represented a particular exercise; stay, hand-touch, reverse/back, and send away (there were only 4 of us in case you think this all sounds a bit hectic!). We cycled around until it was our turn at the send away cone. I positioned Harv and gave him his cue. Off he went, at his usual Mach 2, straight towards the cone ... and straight past the cone ... and straight out of one of the open doors ... and straight up the path ... and stops at a cone at the top of the path!! Needless to say everybody found this very amusing And to be fair, I couldn't really fault him - I obviously wasn't clear enough when I was lining him up for the cone that I'd intended he went too. Having explained the position to him all subsequent send aways were to the intended cone
Oh Harvey! That dd make me laugh! On a more serious note..I do struggle with sending Benson away to things he doesn't have to bring back. He will go out to a target post..but he is not very confident unless it is no more than about 15 feet.
This made me chuckle, what a boy! I loved the obedience classes I did over the Summer, whilst we are all there to learn and train out dogs the funny moments are the best! X
