Spin in a circle is an easy one. http://www.bullwrinkle.com/training/spin.htm

    Also:
    - shake hands http://bestpetsdogtraining.com/teach-dog-shake-hands/
    - guess which hand the treat is in and touch the hand with your nose (it's always in the right hand at our place)
    - roll over http://www.dogtrickacademy.com/blog/how-to-teach-a-dog-to-roll-over
    - crawl along the ground http://www.dailypuppy.com/articles/how-to-teach-your-dog-to-crawl_848.html

Those might not be the very best sites for those tricks, but it's a starting point :) Trick training is excellent fun as there's no pressure so usually everyone has a good time!

Thank you. She has only just started showing interest in "fetch" so might be abit soon. But how so I teach her to wait before she goes back for the ball?

You probably don't have to make her wait at all - soon as you have the ball back you can throw it again.

    Re: Tricks.

My two have really got into learning the names of some toys (ball, duck, antler), then once they reliably picked the one I told them to 'touch' when they were laid out in line, I started hiding them all round the house and telling them fetch just a specific one - fetch 'antler'...they do seem to forget what is what from time to time, but the line up reminds them again, and they get so happy when they bring back the right one (might be the smoked sausage reward mind u...)!

Thank you. Will try that too. I don't like her new game of biting my arm and not letting go. At least its moved on from fingers.

I still do that with Sam Debsie, he loves it too . Plus I used to hide treats, shut him out whilst I did it, then let him sniff one, put it away and tell him to " find it " , just be careful how many treats though ;) he has a toy box and knows most of the names of his toys, loves us to tell him to bring a certain one, he ferrets about in the box, often getting it wrong but will persist when told to, its exercise for the brain as well as the body :)

Hattie loves to be told to be asked to find each member of the family by name, she is always 100% bang on. Charlie is learning the one. Today when asked he found his antler, so there is a brain in there ;D They love to go find the toy you have asked for. Crossword next I think!! ;D ;D Helen x

I asked Oliver to hide some food in the front room, I let Amy out and it was all on the rug! So funny, bit didnt take long to find. We also sat down and thought of the different names for the toys. As at the moment its go get your toy. She knows to get a ball, when we un garden.

My daughter taught Lilly to play dead.
We usualy start from a sit in deference to her dodgy hips.
On a signal of "bang" she will roll on her side and lie perfectly still. If her tail is still wagging or her head up just a bit you need only say tail or head and it will still :)
She has an old plastic gun she uses too along with it.
Quite amusing - even our gundog friend was impressed
Amazing what you can learn from YouTube in an afternoon!

Before we got her I was on You Tube watching the videos. I now think it made all the training look easy! 7 week old puppys going everything! But since we got her I haven't had time to watch any more. I have even cancelled my love film account and took my library books back unread. One of the reasons we wanted a puppy was to keep me busy while boys at school and she certainly does that!
