Help. My year old lab has started having diarrhea when we go on our walks over the fields. He is fine when he goes in the garden. I feel awful because there is no way I can clear it up. The only good thing is that he doesn't do it on the grass track but in the longer grass to the sides. Not really the point though ! Anyone else having this problem and what can I do.All advice gratefully received. Thanks. Chris.

    That is always a problem.
In the garden a hose or watering can is usually the best option, but out and about I don't have a solution.
I usually scoop up as much as possible and rightly or wrongly would then try and cover the residual with leaves or grasses to minimise steppage incidents :poop:

Line your poop bags with kitchen roll, have plenty of spare (BIG) poop bags in your backpack, with a spare roll of kitchen roll if necessary....if it's really bad, then you have to carry a bottle of water too. :( Sympathies...I street walk in London a lot, and if Charlie has runny poo I really have to go equipped. :(

Eugh! Yes, street walking with runny poop there is no escape. Lucky I don't really do that.
Definitely have my sympathies on that one.

Sorry but can you describe what the diarrhoea looks like? Is your boy off leash when you walk those fields? My boy will get loose poops on longer walks and we mainly are off leash. It's sort of like pudding while the first ones of the day are solid. I've read it can just be excitement. Since we don't do long off leash walks in our own yard it doesn't happen there. Is your boy the same? I don't have to clean up either but if you do, could you carry a big water bottle? Actually, if I had to clean this up I could, it's almost solid.

I actually find it worse in a small rural town we often visit - no pavements, lots of tourists, cars crawling through....a dog having a poo stops traffic and hoards of pedestrians huddling in doorways waiting for the car to get out of the way....that's the worst for having to clear up runny poo, with an impatient audience.

Always have kitchen roll. Always. :)
