Can anyone recommend a good UK pet insurer based on experience with them?
Loki came with 4 weeks' insurance with Pet Plan and we're now looking at the best options going forward.

We have all ours insured with Pet Plan. They are not the cheapest though, but I have never had a claim questioned.
There are lots out there, I think I would stick with a reputable and well underwritten company, and choose one which offers the level of cover that suits you, bearing in mind that some conditions are longer term, or re-occurring. So may be a good idea to consider policies which offer a life condition option.

John Lewis are good, but be sure to get a 'lifetime' policy, not a yearly one.

Who ever you go with get a life policy they are the best. I'm with pet plan and they are ok but I had loads of problems with one dogs claims repeatedly . They always paid in the end though. And they paid all the claims for my other 4.

Pet Plan, have been with them for since 1984, I did nip to another insurer for my rescue dog (still with Pet Plan for the others) and the other company were so difficult. Had no problems with Pet Plan.

They never liked paying up for Doug. Sometimes I think they didn't believe he was a living dog. I even had to do a film of him for them . They were always examining his vet records so they could find away to not pay. I just stuck to my guns as I'd done nothing wrong and always won. They settled his last claim claim 4 months after died.

I'd recommend Petplan, I have Mabel insured on the "cover for life classic" paying out up to £7k a year for vets fees. We used £6.5k last year and will definitely use the full £7k this year. They have put the premiums up slightly but I have no complaints they have never quibbled over claims. When I have had to call them they have always been helpful and full of empathy. She is still only 21 months and I'm sad to say we will always be making many claims, so Im glad I chose them.
