Simba just ate the wrapper from some Boursin cheese...it is basically made out of tin foil and cardboard. Not swapping that delicacy for anything. Now what? I'm worried about the tin foil....and here I was feeling so smug that I got him to give up some tasty tin foil on our walk this afternoon....

I'm sure it will be ok. Usually the foil on that kind of thing is very thin. I wouldn't worry especially.

Simba, you just don't know what's good for you, matey!

Hasty consultation with my long-suffering vet friend results in a "wait and see". He didn't think inducing vomiting would be a good idea as the foil could cut up his throat on the way up. So just hoping that he chewed it into small enough pieces that it will pass (ahem).

So hope you are right, Rachel! Worry, worry.....:(

I'd bet on it coming through or him throwing it up. I don't think it'll cut his throat if he vomits it up. I'd guess it's pretty squashed down or crunched up. I doubt it'll get stuck anywhere. I'd feed him a large quantity of fibre rich food, like tinned beans or cooked sweet potato or pumpkin, to give the foil a medium to travel in, so to speak. That was always my vet's advice when my old doggie are yet another illegal item (our most worrying incident involved a stout wooden toothpick with sharp points at both ends, swallowed whole....it came out the other end somehow!).

I had a meeting right after my last post and had to leave...so didn't see this til now. I had a vague memory of this advice from a previous "incident" and gave him a couple pieces of bread before I left. Don't have any tinned pumpkin or sweet potatoe and as it's almost midnight I'm not going in search of any at the moment. Hopefully all will be well...but to top it all off the scoundrel finished the night by scarfing down a square of dark chocolate.

Thanks for the help Rachel, it's nice to "see" you here while the rest are snoozing...

    Oh Simba......
I'm sure he will be fine.
Did he get the contents or just the wrappings? Our boursin wrappers are foil but relatively soft. Considering what their guts do to a bone I would be relatively relaxed about that one.

Edited to correct unintelligible typos made on my phone this morning:rolleyes:

I doubt a foil wrapper would do much harm, it's pretty squishable compared to harder things Labs seem to scoff.

    Hope all is well!

Oh, oh. That wrapper is kind of stiff. Hope you see bright, shiny poop soon.

He spent a peaceful night and seems his usual self this morning, but it's early yet. Of course I have to be away at work again today. I come home at lunch though, so at least I will be able to check in on him.
