Need do some hardcore training with Bruno, his not massively food orientated so I need some ideas for an ultimate treat reward. I've tried hot dogs and cheese.

Chicken, dried liver, fish skins, banana, apple. If Bruno isn't food orientated what about a special toy - a ball, a squeaky toy, a tugger. A lot of my rewards with Juno have been praise and a fuss but she also gets treats. As with most things with our pups it's a case of trial and error :)

Mabel's favourite is tripe. I've only used air dried from the pet shop it absolutely stinks. It's such a winner. Praise alone doesn't work for my girl at all unfortunately nor do toys. It is a case of trial and error

I just can't do tripe. There's so much of it on shelves in supermarkets and restaurants for humans but haven't found any for dogs . Might have to try some for Juno when we're back on the UK. Until then sshhh! Don't tell her

Rosemary, you can get the dried green tripe from zooplus in France: http://www.zooplus.fr/shop/chiens/f...ien_boeuf/abats_friandises_boeuf_chien/229570

That's the one I use. It pongs, but my two adore it for a super special reward.

Another amazing high-value treat is tinned sardines. They're messy, but really effective. I moosh mine up in a blender with some water and put them in a baby food pouch. They're then really easy to dispense cleanly - and fabulous for a distraction when trimming claws :)

I find with Charlie, if food doesn't work he is over a threshold - what I am asking him to do is too difficult and the environment too exciting. Sometimes, I can't find a way to reduce the distractions and I revert to a process of just desensitising him to whatever it is (usually involving other dogs and balls). A measure of success in this is that treats start to work again.

I have ramped up the treats to an incredible level with Charlie. Home roasted chicken with the meat left to absorb all the cooking juices is a good one. Sardines are good too. King prawns work well...as does roast rolled sirloin (medium/rare)... but really, if this kind of thing doesn't work, I know I've got to change what I'm trying to do and I'm asking for too much.

Exactly the same with Mabel, I never knew over the threshold existed until my girl arrived. It's always other dogs.

I've tried ordering from the French site but I have to set it up from a French bank account which I don't have (account is in my OH's name) and I can't pay with a card - unbelievable in 2015! I used to order from the UK site and have it delivered to France but got fed up with delivery problems :(. O know use another company and can arrange to have my parcels delivered to the local Bureau de Poste once they are ready for delivery.

Harley will not work for treats outside of the house. Her ultimate reward is her tennis ball being thrown. At home we do training with treats and she responds really well. I think all dogs are different and you need to find what makes her tick
