Lynne I think the last pic I saw of Jasper was when he was lying on the floor and you were asking about beds....when you get a spare min will you pop a recent pic up of him, feel like I haven't seen him properly for ages :)

Obi had a hip X-ray about 6 months ago and he had to be starved beforehand. So it could be that. :)

when your in the vets and she is explaining things to you, you don't take it in, i walked out side said to my son, what did she say, :-[......he said mum you was saying yes and no to her, :)......i am sure she said they was doing an x ray, he is booked in with the orthopaedic specialist, she did say to me see her let her do an x ray , she will then decide if he needs to be sent to liverpool for a c t scan,.....told me to bring my insurance claim form with me .........omg what a worry :(

An X-ray will give lots of useful information and you can talk to the vet about what the X-ray shows on the day. At the moment it's hard because there are unknowns. But it will all be clearer very soon :) When you see the vet you could ask her to explain again to you exactly what she is looking for. I'm sure she'd be more than happy to go through it all with you.

At the moment the theory is just that he might have a chipped bone, have I got that right?

Re: update on my vet visit

Hi Lynne, Lilly was starved before her x-rays too.

I know when Lilly was thought to need an op for elbow dysplasia, the plan was to x-ray, examine under anaesthsia, then proceed to surgery if needed - and we were consented for these things separately, and again took her in starved. That was to the specialist.
As it turned out, after the x-ray and exam it was re-diagnosed as barn-door hip dysplasia. In that the initial diagnosis was wrong. No op needed (yet).

In Jaspers situation they don't yet have a diagnosis, just a suspicion they need to confirm, and they can only do that with an x-ray.
My educated guess would be starving just for an x-ray - they would definitely have warned you if they thought it might proceed to an op and even though there is always loads of info to take in, I'm sure you wouldn't have missed them saying that!!
