no jac no mettion of an op, she said we will get the orthopaedic to look at him x ray him then decide what needs to be done, she said if she thinks he needs to go for a c/t scan he would need to go to liverpool,......she did say the orthopaedic will know exactly what would need to be done, so its all on fri verdict :) hopefully he wont need an op ;) i did mention from reading on here about lilly o c d,.....she said may be chipped bone, or something else that i didnt take in, think it was something like a build up of something :) even lilly got a mention at my vets :)

    Oh Lynne.... :-\
Relax..... Its not going to be as bad as your mind is wildly catastrophising about at the moment, I am sure.
I know they are a worry, just like kids, but try not to over-think it.
Just be patient and all will come clear.
    xx

how did obi get on with the x ray ?
    [/quote]
Obi had his X-ray because we thought he might have had bad hips. He had the Labrador waddle and he also began limping after a big day at day care one day. There was a bit of soreness when one leg was manipulated by the vet. So the vet X-rayed to check it out. The verdict was that his hips are excellent but that he had just done a bit of soft tissue damage playing hard with other dogs (we fixed that up quickly with some anti-inflammatories). Just as in Jasper's case, Obi's X-ray was done to test out a possible diagnosis (hip displaysia) which turned out to be wrong, but we wouldn't have known without the X-ray. I was worried before the X-ray, but it all turned out fine. :)

Rachael - what is "the Labrador waddle"? I ask because, of course, I'm constantly checking things are normal with Charlie and he sort of waddles (but he used to bunny hop up steps too - stopped when his legs got a bit longer!)

I'm visualizing that back end swing that they do,Dexter does it when he is walking slowly along,he looks a bit like a lion( actually from the back,he looks a lot like a lion! :))his bum kind of waves side to side.ive looked at a lot of labs and dogs of similar build and size and they all seem to do it.

Ah - that's a perfect description of how Charlie walks - all normal then! Thanks!

Yes, that's exactly it - they kind of undulate. Totally normal :)
