    Thanks Clare!

No chance of such luxuries as a brewery trip right now - my schedule is packed - but later, if Charlie in an inpatient, I might have the time.

Greyfriars is indeed on the Hog's back - a road I now know very well, having driven up and down it hundreds of times while lost!

    Hi Julie

Only just caught up with this.

It could have been a scent in the paddock that spooked him. My two especially Scott have been known to have funny reactions for no apparent reason like that and it's usually after sniffing. Perhaps a big dominant dog had been in.

With regards to car sickness in a Volvo my old lab Murphy was brilliant in the car (these two are a nightmare). In the Volvo he'd jump in the boot and sleep. We used to go up to Scotland with mum and dad. 6 hours. He'd have a plastic basket in half the boot and sleep all the way stopping ever 2 hours for a wee.

When we travelled around once there it was a different story however. Volvos have a soft suspension so once there with no luggage in the boot, no boat behind us and winding undulating roads he'd be sick and then drool with worry every time he saw the car.

Solution my dad made the suspension harder by putting a water tub in the boot with him. Not great for fuel efficiency but Murphy was more important. ;)

Just a tip especially if the winding roads in Cornwall upset him in the new pup mobile although I'm sure he'll be fine.

Hope the next trip for his 'spa treatment' goes well

    Jen :D

Thanks Jen, I'll watch him for car sickness in the Volvo. He didn't appear to be sick - he settled down pretty well. What does a dog do when it's car sick?

It was SO weird in the paddock. I've never seen Charlie do anything like this before. He is usually up and super excited in any situation.

OH said he thought it might have been because he was there - OH that is. OH says that he is usually only with me (apart from on walks and things like that) when I need a hand with something difficult, that Charlie is not going to like, or we're leaving Charlie at the vet's...

And also, if Charlie whines, OH cuddles him. ::) Plus OH has just informed me that he doesn't think Charlie can be an in patient at Greyfriars in case he is distressed with not enough cuddles. Argggghh......and his mother never put his dog into kennels. ::) ::) ::)

Weekend is now a big test, with OH demanding video evidence of Charlie's mental well being at coping with staying in a small cottage with another dog and a personal assistant 24/7....in between walks and swims.

Hm. I think your biggest test might be when OH surveys the video evidence and discovers Charlie didn't miss him... ::)

Symptoms of car sickness in dogs excessive drooling, runny nose literally dripping and the obvious one throwing up. ;D

Sometimes I think OH s are softer than us. ;)

No, nothing like that in terms of symptoms - I didn't notice anything in the car. He looked out of the window, grunted a bit, and went to sleep. When we arrived, he was bright, and happy, and looking out of his cage with the boot lid up, while I went to reception. I'll keep an eye on it though.

My OH. Honestly. No-one else but me can look after Charlie. Well, tough luck, I need a weekend off!

Got to tread carefully with OH today though. I scraped the new pupmobile down the wall and had to tell him. Not the most comfortable of conversations.... ::). Gosh. Why is it that walls only jump out at NEW cars, and not battered old ones?

Eep!! Uncomfortable indeed.....well, now that the first ding is over with, the rest won't matter so much. At least that is what I would tell myself....

....when we got our van, it wasn't new but still fairly nice. The first "oops" was when hubby tore the hatch off backing up out of the garage. Honestly, it was such a relief that it was him and not me....and I had quite a few "oops" to do to make up for that one, so I was actually quite happy about it, in a twisted sort of way ::)

Oops........my first 'ding' was 3 months after I got the car and a silly person drove into the back of me very hard........since then kerbing the alloys didn't seem so bad ;)

Oh dear.. Still, got to keep things in perspective. It's only a car... You're not hurt, nor is OH, nor is Charlie...

    Oh no :(

Hope OH has been understanding. You've been under a terrible strain and that should be taken into account as a mitigating factor ;)

haha ;D We are getting our new car Friday of next week. I am writing all these tips down in case I am the first to sully it.

More seriously, I'm sure that scratching the Pupmobile was stressful, Julie. Glad it was minor in the scheme of things, though. Nothing that can't be fixed.
