It's good to bear that Tyne is doing well and that Tom is recovering well. I remember Juno's 3x3 minutes walks a day after her elbow surgery with fond memories . I have to say I really don't envy you managing his recovery and dealing with a puppy at the same time. If you feel the need to rant, you know where we are
It's a good idea to have another sample lab tested at the end then you know for sure. The strip tests they do at the vets can show it's clear when it isn't as you've probably already experienced.
Tynes sample came back with a trace of blood still so she's on another week of stronger ABs.. I really hope this will sort it. Am just waiting for the specialist to phone as tom the springer is very lame on his bad leg and I've no idea why, he just woke up like it. I'm sick with worry, he's obviously in a lot of pain
Oh Marge,I've just read your whole thread, what a roller coaster you've had. Could Tom have just overdone it on his excercise do you think? I hope so and its nothing serious and you can get him some relief while it so sore.Let us know how you get on x
Oh Marge, so sorry to hear the news on both dogs. Crossing everything that Tom's limp isn't anything serious and that the ABs work their final magic on Tyne. You're having such a tough time at the moment, thoughts and best wishes with you all
So sorry you're having all this worry with your dogs. Hope the specialist can help with Tom and that Tyne's infection clears up with this course.
Sorry to hear about Tom waking lame - fingers crossed for him. Hopefully the second course of antibiotics will sort Tyne out too. You're having a rotten time of it at the moment.
Thanks everyone for your support again. They think Tom has an infection and X-rays showed no problem with the actual op. Everything's where it should be. However, he can't put any weight on his leg at all and is obviously feeling very poorly and in pain. He's on strong ABs so hope they do the trick. The strain is telling on me a bit but have to keep strong for the doglets sake! MORE WINE NEEDED!! Xx
Hi Marge , ironic because this happened to friend of mine and her staffy, it was a post op infection , she is now 100% so I wish the same for Tom , you enjoy your wine, there are times when wine is necessary
A large glass is definitely in order. Truly hope the strong ABs kick in quick for Tom and he's soon feeling better.
It's horrible when your dog's in pain - you feel so helpless. Have you been given antibiotics if they think it's an infection? Hope things improve overnight.
Thanks again everyone. He's a sorry state but ate his tablet and some of his food, mixed with fish and hand fed! I keep spontaneously crying, he is such a good boy and doesn't deserve this. He will have to put up with my snoring tonight as I will be right beside him on the sofa!!(he will be in his crate of course!)
Yes Kate, me too!! I'm so tired, I don't think it will matter! I just keep thinking that we have had dogs for 37 years and have had the usual probs but nothing like we've had in the last few months. I also lost my gorgeous bunny in Dec last year, he would've been 11 in the Jan. As I said before, there's a lot of family stuff going on too so am trying to juggle. Luckily, my daughters are dog mad so they understand! Xx
Oh Marge I'm so sorry you are having such a rough time lately. Poor Tom, it's horrible when our furry pals are in pain, I hope things are restored to normal ASAP. I'll keep everything crossed that the antibiotics clear both dogs of the infections. Hope you had a better night and are feeling less stressed by all you are contending with, I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Donna x
