    Hi.I'm new to this forum.
I have a 2 year old lab and a nearly 3 year old.Having problems with the younger one.He was nearly 4 mnths old when we got him from the breeder we met his mum and dad very calm. The problem is he is scared of everything. We walk them in the forest and on the beach they get to run free.I have to keep watching for joggers, bikesand even people without dogs.He chases towards them so i have to put him on a lead.He loves other dogs and likes a chase but very very nervous with people even ones he knows. If the postman brings a parcel he will hide and run away.Feel so helpless and desparate.Just need him to be more relaxed like his brother.Sorry for the long post.

    Hi @Wens

The likely explanation for the behaviour is lack of socialisation when the dog was in the window from 3 to 16 weeks.

Since you don't have access to a time machine, socialisation is not possible. You will need to undertake Look at That training, which is a form of desensitisation and counter conditioning. There is a folder on this site. It contains an extremely well done video.

After you train the protocol you are going to use the technique initially every time your dog sees a new human. Use distance and high value treats when you take the technique on the road.

Be warned. Although you may be able to ameliorate the problem, you may not completely change the dog's disposition towards strangers.

Let us know how you get on. And no need for apologies about your belief tat your post was long. It was not. And significantly, more observations are better than brief descriptions.
