We lost our 14-year old Labrador last month, the end to her perfect, happy, amazing life. We are getting a yellow Lab puppy (my third yellow Lab, because they are the most perfect creature ever created in this entire universe) in mid-September… However, 7 years ago, I was paralyzed in a bad fall from my horse, and now walk with forearm crutches. It was never a concern with my adult dog— I would take her out on my recumbent bike, or my standup scooter, or she would even walk slowly on a leash, because she knew what I needed, etc.— but now, a new puppy to pick up and take outside a dozen times throughout the day and nights. My husband insists he can do it all, but I want to! So, is there such a thing as a “puppy Björn,” some kind of front-wearing knapsack? I realize it’s not ideal, quickly scooping up an about-to-pee puppy, putting her in a carrier, and hobbling outside, but I want to be able to do this! (In terms of potential falls, rarely happens, but I’ve trained myself to go backwards if I go down!) Any overall thoughts or ideas or opinions from anyone who has experience with puppies and crutches?
