Hi everyone- We have a 1.5 yr old yellow female and 5.5 month old chocolate female and walks are becoming more difficult. The yellow lab enjoys people and other dogs and it's easy to get her to sit down when there's passerby's but the chocolate will jump up on her and start biting her . Then I lose control of the yellow lab and her training I have to correct the chocolate lab and it becomes stressful to walk in when people and dogs are around. Anyone else go through this? If yes, how did you train? Thank you
If you can manage it, taking them on separate walks would be best. They are at very different stages of their training (as you know better than anyone!) and you're asking a lot of yourself to manage them both at once in a distracting environment. If you take them out one at a time you can tailor your approach to suit each dog.
I have a 10 month old lab and a 5 year old King Charles Cavalier and I have to walk them separately as when we meet other people and dogs I have to give the lab all my attention and although the cavalier is very good just holding the extra lead is a problem! I am looking forward to being able to walk them together soon as Freddie the lab is getting much better when we see people although squirrels are another matter!
