Does anybody else's dog drag their washing off the line? As soon as there's any washing out Stanley's jumping up at it and pulling it off. I'm sick of re washing clothes and getting holes in them. He did it last year but he was too little to reach, but now he can get everything. He loves being in the garden and if I don't let him he sits and cries at the door or jumps up at the handle until I let him out. He just lays in the sun for ages which I don't mind but I don't want him ruining the washing. Obviously I can't monitor him constantly so I feel as though I'm stuck between him crying at the door to be out or ruining my clothes. The obvious thing to do would be to just keep him in but I feel so guilty. Any ideas on stopping him? He does it even if you're around as well. Everytime he does it I just bring him in and don't let him back out, or if he looks like he's about to I say ah-ah and when he looks away I say good and give him a treat. Is there anything else I can do except keep him in? Thanks
Good work at training your Mum there, Stanley Lilly x (PS - apart from elevating your line or putting some kind of obstacle in the way to stop him, I have no idea, but sounds like he is getting some kind of reward, intended or not, for meddling with the washing)
The only thing I can think of is to train him to ignore the washing. Maybe put out some old clothes on the washing line and do lots of training sessions in the garden getting him to ignore and leave it. Good luck
They will if I let them so we have fenced half the garden for dogs and another half for washing. Doug was ok Moo stole the pegs. Rory well he like pants and socks. He also eats pegs. He is closely supervised around washing he thinks it's great fun but getting better. He doesn't touch in the house now but he still finds it exciting outside. It will pass he's getting better at ignoring it
We had to resort to a dryer I'm afraid. Bailey only took and destroyed my clothes but it was cheaper to buy the dryer and pay for the electricity to run it, than constantly replace my clothes! I hate clothes shopping so it was driving me mad
I now have a fence up. It means I can have the door open and not worry what the dogs are up to in the garden - and my lawn is saved from wee burnt patches The dogs are allowed in the garden, but only when I'm there. Nn Jj
Do you have shares in the makers of puppy pens Mags @Boogie ? Looks like an excellent set-up! I was however surprised earlier on when Lilly's weekend visitor did a poop on the pavement outside Lilly would never been seen DEAD pooping on anything other than grass (much to the *lawn's* dismay)
Mags this is fab Were getting our whole front and back done soon and the lawn will be OFF limits to rolo. Is this just one or the metal play pens? I need to to something similar
Yes - it's an Ellie Bo, we have had it for the pups' spending area - so just extended it. It does rust a little, but the original is four years old and still fine ...
