Thanks, everyone :) They sure are resilient.

By this afternoon he was digging mud out of our pond, running around like a maniac and ripping up things he'd stolen from the recycling bin. Situation normal :)

Thanks, Debsie :) Yes, he is feeling much, much better and the bite site is looking a lot better also. Now it's getting itchy and he wants to scratch at it though...only to be expected, and the boot is stopping any damage.

This morning we went for a walk and he managed to smear poo (species of origin = unidentified) all over his hindquarters so we had to give him a careful sluice down in the shower. He is not meant to get the wound wet ::) Good thing he is cute.

No, he can't actually reach it with his tongue (though we do have a cone poised for action, should he develop this skill!!). The problem is scratching at it....which we can't stop, hence the boot (to stop him snagging a claw on a staple - ouchy).

Despite the fact that we are not 'cone sisters' I am still feeling your pain in relation to the whole suture management saga, LOL!!

He is doing well, thanks Lynne :) He is feeling pretty bouncy as he is not getting his normal level of exercise - he is not allowed off lead and not allowed to play with other dogs (till the staples are out - maybe Friday, possibly next Monday). We are all looking forward to the staples coming out.

Yes, we can't wait till we can get back to our normal routine :)

I'm sure that the bite really hurt at the time but he does not seem to be bothered by it at all now - other than it being a little bit itchy. He is more bothered by the boot, poor boy. We take it off sometimes to give his foot a bit of a break and he always wants to grab it and chew it (in revenge I think).

I'll put up a pic of him here when his staples are out :)

Re: We have a man down

So Obi has been to the vet again today and had his staples out (after a false start on Friday when we also went to the vet but the vet decided to leave the staples in a bit longer). He has a little bit of an infection but it is on the surface, not inside the wound, so the vet thinks it will clear up with the ointment we have been given. He has to keep his coat on when not on a walk so that he doesn't scratch at it and put dirt into it. Obi also had his vaccination and annual heartworm injection today so it was a big vet visit for him :) He did very well (aside from nearly taking off the vet nurse's fingers when she gave him a yummy treat after the staple removal).

Afterwards we went for a nice walk around the lake in the middle of Canberra (but no swimming until everything has healed up properly, sadly). Here he is on the walk, with some Black Swans in the background (which you can't see very well but they are the black lumpy things grazing in the top right of the pic).

Thanks, Kate :) Yes, I'm sure they were uncomfortable. He would often 'wrinkle up' the skin on his side as it if was bothering him. He's not doing that now :)
