Yay, well done. I don't think he is so old though we have lots of 2 plus dogs in our classes. Silver next ;)

Oh that's good to know...don't know about Silver.....let's see ;D

They are holding a Beginners Scenting Seminar later this month which I will go along to ... And there's talk of an Agility Course at another training centre I have been to before so there's a few things to keep the yellow fellow out of too much trouble !!!!! I hope!

    Thankyou everyone....

Yes there were 2 points...his 'stay' was one of them .I can't talk to Dexter or break eye contact for too long or he gets up.....using a hand signal and keeping eye contact he would stay all day......I think. The trainer and I had a few bumps on this....he wanted us to be able to do it without eye contact, and he said Dexter isn't relaxed ,he's too vigilant in his stay ...my point was he is doing a 'stay' not a 'settle' so he's watching me for my next instruction ......A switched off 'settle' is never going to happen in a room that is used all day for daycare and with boarding dogs and the occasional bark in kennels next to us whilst we are doing our training.....so I kind of got my way as he passed us for completing our stay for the required time.

No 2 ......guess?Walking to heel past other dogs......we did it but again I got a concession ::) I was allowed to use our 'look at me' and give him a couple of treats ......but to be honest the trainer has seen him with several dogs over the few weeks since other dogs were introduced so he's had opportunities to see him.....Gosh if he'd have seen him 6 months ago we'd have been thrown out the class ;D

Dexter sounds like Merla's long lost twin brother ;D ;D ;D

I'm just having a New Year blitz on heelwork and stays myself. I'm revisiting the clicker for heelwork, and I've thought up a sneaky ruse for stays, to embed me crossing my arms as a cue for 'stay in that stay' !! Seems to be working so far, and the bonus is I can see my watch with my arms crossed to checked how much time has passed. It also stops me from flailing my arms and hands around and giving all sorts of unintentional cues and distractions. We'll solve the problem of stays out-of-sight when we come to it.....in about another 5 years ;D ;D ;D

Well done you and Dexter! Cuillin and I nearly flunked our bronze on the Stay as she had to do it in a class of dogs she had never met before, and was asked to do her Stay next to a GSD, she's scared of GSDs and kept tryibg to scoot away from it but poor sausage kept her body in her Sit position as she knew she was supposrd to but she kept sort of waddling towards me :D. The nice examiner let her move away from the GSD and she was fine!
