Although we are thankfully looking towards Spring when mud eases and it (hopefully) rains less, I've been thinking about how I dry my two.
Usually they get a hose down outside and put in the dog shed if they're very muddy. They are usually muddy and wet, they seem to go hand in hand with Labs! They do take a while to dry off, even with a quick towel down.

My question is, has anyone used towel bags for labs? Can they walk around in them or must they lie still? I'm wondering whether to invest in them! You can get ones more like horses rugs which seem good, but don't deal with the muddy legs! I guess you'd still have to hose them off and as they dry quicker than the body I guess that's not a problem?!

I used a dog coat its made of towel material and has a belly band which makes the coat close fitting and it really drys them well. Can't remember the name will find it out and post it tomorrow. they are very good

I go for a hose down and rub over with an Easidry towel (brilliant things, really dry them off well) then in to Equafleece coats which are like polo neck jumpers made out of fleece, cover the front legs, neck and chest completely and cover their backs. All four limbs are unimpeded. They zip up at the back to make it easy to get them on and off. They are warm, speed up the drying and prevent any wall splattering from the inevitable "just in the house" shake.

Towel bags are just asking for broken legs in my opinion.

I've just invested in the aquasorb towel but haven't had a reason to use it yet as I could dry Juno's legs with a towel yesterday and this morning

I find the aquasorb better than a towel as it doesn't need drying - just a quick rinse out!

Charlie usually gets a very good scrub over with a towel, and I hose him if I have to do so. Then dry with a towel and mats, beds, etc. covered in towels which go in the wash at the end of the day.

If I need to dry him completely and fast, I use a dog dryer - it's a motorbike dryer really, with a dog paw print label stuck on it. It's very powerful, and if you use it without getting all the mud off, you can splatter the kitchen ceiling in mud.

I've got one of those toweling dog dressing gown things and it's very good. Also a micro fibre "oven glove" towel that's good for getting between the pads of the paws (huge amounts of fun for Lady! :D).

Otherwise I find good quality carpets (usually available throughout the house) do a very adequate job.

got there in the end the gears are warming up now, they are called ruff and tumble dog coats they are very good and really help dry Doug well after a hydro session. I also use it if its a bit cold for the old boy on his little walk. www.ruffandtumblecoats.com

He has a green one and looks very dapper

I find that they get very muddy underneath as well as legs and paws, does the 'ruff and tumble coat' help with clearing up the underneath mud?!

I'm very lucky with Max as he doesn't have the proper thick labrador coat, he's really shiny and glossy for some reason :S he always has been but he is still a big shedder...hair gets everywhere !
Any who I actually bought Max a dog tracksuit which protects him somewhat from the mud elements and wind. He's a labrador that gets cold after a walk, he lies on the sofa and waits to be covered over in a blanket!!! Talk about spoilt haha
I also LOVE the microfibre towels, he also has a towel throwover/bathrobe thing which I put on after giving him a rub down

Does anyone know how to post pictures on here from a mobile, I wanted to upload a picture of Max (black lab) turned into a spotty muddy brown labrador haha

Photos have to hosted on a site like Flickr, Imgur, Photobucket etc and then just select your photo and copy and paste in the bbCode. More info here

Don't you just hate how mud lurks underneath even after you've given a good rub down - shows up nicely on my wooden floor though

I have two of these towels by Trixie:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Trixie-Towe...=1455029486&sr=8-16&keywords=trixie+dog+towel

I really only need one, even with two dogs. They are so absorbent, and you just wring it out when it gets saturated then carry on. A quick rinse when you're done, and pop it back in its tube, damp. Once in a while, chuck it in the washing machine and then straight into the tube without drying it.

If we had to stay out in the cold afterwards, I would definitely invest in coats for them, but when they're getting into a warm car, or home, there's no need. They're almost completely dry after using the Trixie towel.
