Sorry to hear this! Hope he starts to perk up without too many invasive procedures necessary. Keep us posted!
No good news yet I'm afraid, back to the vets this morning, they aspirated the lump and couldn't see anything under the microscope. They ruled out a salivary cyst because it doesn't seem to be painful at all to touch! But that's all they ruled out. Next steps are 3 more days of antibiotics in the hope that it is an infection, as its moved more centrally the vet said it might be a case of the antibiotics working... If the 3 days doesn't shrink it anymore next steps would be to send the aspirated fluid to the lab, an X-ray and CT scan.... It's just horrible to see him like this, the meds make him dopey and he is obv uncomfortable plus now the whole thing is weeping, mayb from the aspiration but it's seeping out of the whole lump out of his throat it's just awful
You poor thing and poor Dexter It's so awful to see them unwell. I'm sure that the vet will get to the bottom of it though and eventually this lump will be resolved. If it is an infection then having it seep out like that is not necessarily a bad thing....any painful pressure will be relieved. Not at all nice to see on your poor dog though.
Poor Dexter. You are obviously worrying about this. I do hope you get some answers soon (or preferably, just no more lump) x
So sorry I don't have any insightful advice for you. No experience of anything like this. I do hope you see a resolution soon, you must be worried. Best of luck with it.
Hugs from here too. What a worry for you. Good thing is that the vet is on top of it. I'm sure you'll get some answers, hopefully soon!
Thank you to everyone for your kind words and well wishes. I'm pleased to say the antibiotics much have worked because the lump has completely gone down, it is still there but because it has reduced in size so much the vet thinks it was an infection although she can't tell where? She thinks the lump will disappear completely by itself so we can just keep an eye on it but at least no X-rays or ct scans or any more biopsies!
