Try a carabiner from a rock climbing or hiking shop. With a cable tie you'll have to keep cutting them and using new ones. And 'springy wingies' can be chewn through (and then recoil and cause an injury with the hooky ends).

Or you can try leaving the door open

I just love how Annie has Fred wrapped around her little paw. She gives a little cry and he comes to let her out think we know who's the boss
