We spent most of the day in Dartmouth today and Harv took the opportunity to make some new friends in true Labrador fashion. This resulted at one point, while queuing for a boat trip, in us being told "meeting your dog has convinced us that we want to get one". (See, strangers can say positive things too! )

LOL! I can relate. I've had several people walk up to Chopper and say "He is so stocky. Is he half pit-bull?" I just shake my head and laugh, then say "No, he is an English Lab."

My 2 black labs got mistaken by 2 small boys for rotties they(boys) ran off up the street screaming. Do people actually look with their eyes ...at all ?

I get a lot of people telling me Harley isn't a lab and that she's either too fat, or too thin!
I did have a man who has an 8 month old fox red boy that he thinks Harley is gorgeous and is very well trained and could I give him tips for his boy on not jumping up

He's right she is, such a pretty girl
One time I got stalked in penzance my OH had gone into a shop and was(He always is) a while. this man kept staring at Doug really staring and everytime I moved he would move and keep staring. He freaked me out. Then his OH came out of a shop and then the both stormed across the road towards me. I was bricking it, but the man smiled and said sorry to scare you but I love your lab he's a real old fashioned type you don't see many about now. I talked to him for ages and even gave him details of the breeder I got Doug from as he had been looking for a dog like Doug for ages. He and his partner were nice but he really scared me.

That's funny :). Same thing happened in my neighborhood. Neighbor down the street is in front yard, "Excuse me, just wanted to ask you as I see how well trained your dog is, what is that you're giving him?" (He was referring to treats in my pouch). I give him a brief explanation of clicker training, he tells me "Your dog is just a puppy and so good and my 2 are older and act nuts". At this point we are still talking from across the street. Then he starts to approach us and Myles starts flipping about like a fish on a hook. And I'm all "See?" And he's all "Oh."

People have asked if Oban is a Lab. I think they are used to enormous dogs because they often comment he's so small. He isn't small, he's 67 pounds which is in the middle of the Canadian standard for weight of 60 to 75 for the boys.

I've also had several comments about what good shape he is in but really, he is not in as good shape as he was. He has injured a front leg, it will never get better, and he can 't exercise as he used to. We keep him slim to protect the leg and people think it makes him look fit.

My young boy is getting quite good at home now and his wild boy days are getting less and less He's getting into the routine that the others dogs have and seems a lot more relaxed. however yesterday he was in the garden with me as I was working and it went a bit quiet. I found him in the wood pile with all his footballs 5 and his rugby ball and his basket ball and a strangly open bag of compost sitting on top of this pile of stuff laughing with a mouthful of compost. he's so funny, I just can't ever be annoyed with him he's so adorable even when he's trying to hatch balls and eat compost
