I know it might sound like a silly question but I can't seam to find out on the internet. I know they come in black, brown and yellow are there any others please?
Re: What other colours do Show Labs come in? There is a veriation within the yellows called fox red, a few of us on here have reds - myself included. I don't think you would ever find a fox red in the show ring though, I think they tend to be found more in the working line even though the first yellow labs ever bred were red coloured rather than the traditional yellows we know today.
Re: What other colours do Show Labs come in? In terms of registration you can only have black, yellow or chocolate. Within choccy and yellow you get variations and some white hairs are allowable in all colours I believe. All of the above applies to show and working although you'll see more of some colours and shade in one discipline rather than the other. All the above is in the context of the breed standard and KC registration rather than acknowledging the beautiful variation within our lovely breed
Re: What other colours do Show Labs come in? Thanks for the replies Can you get a chocolate/black coat too, as a friend of ours has a "black" Lab but in some lights the coat looks brown?
Re: What other colours do Show Labs come in? I've certainly seen black dogs with a brown cast to their coats in amongst working dogs. They are registered as black though. There are some good articles on colours on the main site. I'll try and find you a link later or you can have a dig around
Re: What other colours do Show Labs come in? I think Barbara means that in some blacks , in certain light, you can see a slight glimpse of brown , in other light you cant see it at all . My Lab is black through and through but when he is moulting ( when isnt he moulting ? ) you can occasionally see a dark brown hue to his head, then in other lights you cant see it at all .

He's mad enough in his own right tho My friends dog has a slight brown hue in some lights at certain times of year exactly as Kate describes with Sam
