I think every dog has its own weird things that it does. Without being trained (at least, not intentionally), my two absolutely have to sit the same way round when they're waiting for their dinner, a treat or anything. Willow sits on the left, Shadow on the right. If they happen to be the wrong way round, one or the other of them will move to get back that way.

I have taught them to sit at the threshold to the kitchen when I'm in there. Willow sits there perfectly (Shadow is still learning to control his impulse to bounce in on occasion), but the higher value the thing is that I'm preparing, the farther back she sits. Sometimes she ends up sitting in the dining room, about ten feet away from the threshold!

Shadow also has to come and lick my hands after every meal; it's like he's showing his appreciation for his dinner :)

Do yours have any funny things they do that add to their personalities?

What a lovely topic, Mabel has her evening Kibble in kongs. She's got five that I use at night. 2 blue puppy original shape, 2 pink wish bone and 1 red dumb bell. I freeze her kibble in them during the day. At 5 o'clock she hears the fridge and sits. I lay them on her mat by her drinking bowl. It doesn't matter which order I take them out the freezer she always takes the dumb bell first followed by the wish bones and then the 2 blue ones. If she doesn't see the dumb bell she doesn't touch the others. .

Not really, she just sits in front of me, staring into my eyes when she wants something then I have to go through a list until she jumps up and wags her tail.

Twiglet puts her front paws on the step to wee - she likes to wee standing up like a boy!

Gypsy used to rub herself round your legs just like a cat, I miss that :)

Tatze has completely different ways of greeting me and OH - with me it's toy in mouth wag wag wag, with OH it's instantly on her back for a tummy rub.

Both Twiglet and Tatze have to sit 3 feet away while I load the dishwasher, then they get a treat - Tatze 'reminds' Twiglet by nudging her!

Zaba (my friend's black Lab who stays with us a lot) always 'saves' some water when he has a drink and dumps it on your knee! I forget every time!

Isn't it funny how labs quirks all seem to be food related?!

Ella has her kibble and mince in a slow feed (anti-gulp) bowl or kibble in a Kong wobbler. But when we give her chicken necks or wings etc. she will only eat it if she can take it to her vet bed. If there isn't a vet bed handy she just wanders around with the food in her mouth looking helpless ☺.

The other quirk that was stupidly trained by us from when we first got Ella was a bad habit of us carrying her to bed at night. Yep, I know, we're idiots haha! She was just so cute in those first couple of weeks and would fall asleep on the couch so we'd carry her into her bed. Now she's nearly 5 months and still gives us that look as if to say "don't make me walk, carry me ☺"

He spins round in a circle before he poos really fast and he does the same before he gets fed, but only does that when he thinks I can't see him so if I look at him he sits quickly. He knows he should be sitting but just cant contain himself. He just gets really really excited about his food,

Every evening Holly will come into the lounge and rest her head on my knee. Its her sign that she wants me to sit on the floor so she can curl up against me. When I get on the floor she will drape herself across my legs and fall fast asleep. She's a big softy really :)

When Poppy's done a really good retrieve and is very pleased with herself, she comes right up to me and gives me her paw and wants me to scratch her chest. She's so sweet.

Juno just has to have a toy in her mouth to greet you and delays the greeting while she goes to find the toy she wants . If she can't find the toy she wants one of my shoes from the bottom of the stairs will do :cool:. She also always sits on her bee waiting for her dinner while I weigh out the vat food and her kibble. Before she has her dinner she has 2 supplement pills every night (for her ED), so after putting her kibble in her bowl I reach for the supplement pot, as I turn round Juno is sitting behind me waiting for her "treats", she then rushes back to her bed to sit and wait for me to put her food down and for the command that she can have her dinner :D.

Chopper likes to bring things he finds out in the woods back to the house and make toys out of them. Could be a very large stick, plastic bottle, stop sign, or even a safety cone? My girlfriend is smitten by Chopper and let's him drag these items into the house. I get these kinds of texts on a regular basis. Ugh!!! What am I going to do with her?

Chopper is brilliant! He reminds me of my old black lab, Bones. He had a thing about gloves - especially work men's gloves. We live in a very forested area, and he was always finding work gloves discarded or lost by the forestry workers.

At least - we thought they were discarded or lost. Turns out he used to sneak over to where the men were working and actually STEAL their gloves!

Molly has an evening ritual, when she selects a bone from her bone box (alternative to toy box!), jumps up on the sofa as much on my lap as she can get and then hands me the bone. I'm then required to hold it while she gnaws ( and dribbles) for about 20 minutes.

Obi likes to 'self pat' on foliage, preferably conifers but also hedges and large clumpy grasses or reeds. This vid is of him with a favourite tree (normally he goes on for much longer:( https://flic.kr/p/xFGDTU

    Hahaha! :D:D:D

Is he self patting? Or is he just finishing of his morning styling with some eau de toilette - scent of pine, I think.....
