So Bob doesn't bark this morning (good boy) and it gets to 8am so I just went downstairs to let him out etc etc. Lovely greeting, laying on side having cuddles. Then I notice a puddle underneath him appearing and he's only peeing while laying down on his side with me!!! MASSIVE puddle of morning wee all over me, wee all over him, under the crate, everywhere!!! What the hell just happened? Is he ill? Or is this a training issue? Or had he held it too long and the greeting with me was too much? Feeling quite shocked! He's outside at the moment, I wasn't sure what else to do with him and I needed to tidy up anyway. Thanks, Lou
Re: What the hell just happened?! Sounds like he was just bursting to go from getting up later and the with excitement of seeing you he just couldn't hold it any longer!! I wouldn't worry too much if it's just a one off! I always used to ignore Penny until she had had her first wee, then we had cuddles and rubs!
Re: What the hell just happened?! I agree with Lauren - he was probably bursting to go and couldn't wait.
Re: What the hell just happened?! Ok thank you!!! I'm still in shock but I did wonder if that was the reason. Ok no crazy morning greetings from now on until we've had the wee first!!! By the way should we bath him??? Lou x
Re: What the hell just happened?! He's only a baby still, so still working on his bladder control If it turns out to be a one-off I wouldn't worry. Just one of those 'dogs being dogs' moments
Re: What the hell just happened?! If he's covered in wee it might be a good idea.... He might be a bit smelly!
Re: What the hell just happened?! Yes - full and bursting bladder I would bath him in water only, no shampoo as it strips the natural oils.
Re: What the hell just happened?! Oh yeah, I meant to say bathe him We use a mild dog shampoo. You don't want urine in his skin so I'd shampoo, myself. Shampoo is one of those things that can be over-used though.

Young dogs tend to 'forget' that they need to go if something more exciting (like greeting people) comes along. So we need to delay the exciting bit until they have been outside (at least until they are old enough to 'hold it' during greetings )
Re: What the hell just happened?! Oops!! Just to make you feel better Riley, fully mature, decided to wee on a small stone wall. Only problem was I was sitting on a step next to it. He wee'd all over my leg..... I was at gundog training so about 8 total strangers knew about it : Agree with everyone else.....bursting to go, much excitement, all a bit too much bless him
Re: What the hell just happened?! Yep, excitement for sure. The only similar occasion we had with Pongo - when he was about the same age as Bob - was when Paul was playing wrestle on the ground, and Pongo head-butted him on the nose (by accident!). Suddenly a nose bleed and Pongo tasted the blood.... and immediately wee'ed all over the floor! What a mess... :
Re: What the hell just happened?! Oh dear reminds me of one of our late dogs he would greet us coming home so enthusiastically he couldn't stop himself weeing up our legs as he said hello, only answer we found was get him outside before he said hello, not easy in a flat but lino at end of the hall and towels at the ready was what we did in the end.
Re: What the hell just happened?! Thanks for all your replies. I've been so busy today so not had a chance to bathe him. I'll pop him in the bath and give him a wash later. Wish me luck lol!!!!
