Re: What time does your lab wake up in the morning? Our two get up when we do - usually at 7:00. But we sometimes leave them til 7:30/8. They are crated, so now we know their bladders can last, we don't feel so bad about leaving them. We don't like to get them stuck in to a really strict routine, but they do like structure, so the routine once they wake up is the same - outside, pee, inside, eat, outside, poo, inside, ask "what's going on mum!?" Sometimes we get up at 2am to let them out, if we think their tummies are squitty. Rather that than poo filled crates!!
Re: What time does your lab wake up in the morning? Hi, At about 5 1/2 - 6 months I had just got Monty to go about 7 hours through the night, no matter whether it was 9.30 or 12 when I went to bed I made him go outside for his last wee of the day and he would go a full 7 hours - if we had put him to bed early and had to get up at 5 or 6 to let him out, he would go back in his cage for another 1 - 2 hours or so with a kong till we had surfaced. Within another month he went 8 hours through the night, then nine hours a month after that. I'm guessing the darker mornings through autumn prevented him from waking too early, as we haven't quite had him a full year yet then who knows what next summer will bring...
Re: What time does your lab wake up in the morning? Homer used to have a mad hour from 9 pm to 10 pm until he was nearly a year old, just at the time of day we wanted to curl up and relax in front of the telly an 8:30 bed time would have been bliss! At 2 1/2 he still wakes up at about 6am and asks for his breakfast. As he's got older he has been more inclined to wait a bit longer on weekend days when all is quiet until a bit later. If there us any movement in the house at the time he wakes he might be associating this as a start to his morning ruteen. If could even be a neibours car starting in the drive at a regular time.
Re: What time does your lab wake up in the morning? My girl is a lazy so and so. She never greets us in the mornings, but might just about roll over for a tummy rub. We get up at 07:15 most mornings but she stays in bed until walk time at around 08:00. The people at the kennels where she frequently stays for a couple of nights say she's most unusual. They often have to tip her out of bed in the morning to get her moving. ;D

Re: What time does your lab wake up in the morning? Once you know that their bladders can cope it's much easier. Simply ignore them 'till YOUR get up time, they soon get the message, as long as you are consistent. [/quote] My two usually sleep from about 10pm-ish until 7.30 - 8am. Tuppence sometimes barks a little when she wakes up, but I ignore her and go to let her out of her crate when I'm ready, as she's always still lying down although alert. She always wants her breakfast first anyway, rather than going straight into the garden, but Wispa generally slowly emerges from her crate , has a 'wriggly greeting' moment and then goes into the garden before breakfast. I suppose we've been very lucky - perhaps it helps not having a household of 'morning people', so they know what's expected!
Re: What time does your lab wake up in the morning? Mine also sleep from 10pm to 7:30am when I wake them up They are 6 months and 20 months old.
Re: What time does your lab wake up in the morning? Hi Harvey is 2 1/2 and has recently started waking up and barking around 6:15 after my son has gone to work. This is ok-ish as this is the time that I need to get up but it is the same at the weekend and I'm not sure how to break the cycle of the barking as it must seem to him that I am rewarding the barking by going down to him when, in fact, it's because I need to be up anyway! Any tips please? Thanks, Wendy
Re: What time does your lab wake up in the morning? Bob is 5 months old and usually goes to bed around 10.30pm and sleeps until about 7.30am. During the Christmas holidays he actually adjusted and started waking up about 8.30am as we weren't getting up that early. But as I have to get up for the school run now he usually hears me upstairs and I hear a bark now at about 7.30am. At weekends when we want a lay in, I go down when he wakes, feed & toilet him, give him a few cuddles and then pop him back in his crate and he usually falls asleep again. Sometimes I might leave him outside his crate - it depends on whether it's warm enough to leave the back door open for him, but he eventually ends up in his crate if there is nothing much else going on and no-one around. He's pretty good. Lou x
Re: What time does your lab wake up in the morning? At 4 months Zac is up usually between 6-6:30am. I am not a morning person, but I am trying to take it in stride as usually sleeps through the night.
Re: What time does your lab wake up in the morning? At five months, mine sleep all evening, get put to bed at around midnight and sleep through until Shadow wakes me up with a little bark, the last few mornings without fail at 7:29. Guess what time my alarm goes off? :
Re: What time does your lab wake up in the morning? Chepi tends to stir when I start moving about, either 6.15 or 6.30. She goes to bed when I do : around 10.45 or 11. I haven't slept past 6.30 since I have had her but I a have always been an early riser. When we get up she goes back to sleep after breakfast.
Re: What time does your lab wake up in the morning? About 5:30am pushes the bedroom door open jumps on the bed sits on the wifes head to move her over then snuggles in with me with his head pressed against mine

You clearly have a very tolerant and understanding wife!
Re: What time does your lab wake up in the morning? Our puppy rises with me at 5.30 not out of choice as the look on his face says it all ??? He's then up until we leave the house and then climbs straight back into his crate, he likes to sleep in a quiet house. By 9.30 he's ready to go to bed and will make you know that he's not interested in playing at that time 8)
Re: What time does your lab wake up in the morning? My lab wakes up at about 6:30 but will wake earlier if she hears someone stir upstairs, she will then wine until they come down as she knows the first person to come down in the morning feeds her, thats all she cares about, food. Most people would say that her winning is attention seeking but we know its just her letting us know she is awake and that she would like her breakfast then to go outside to go to the toilet
Re: What time does your lab wake up in the morning? Pongo opens an eye when Paul goes downstairs at 7.00 to make the tea, but knows there is no point in moving from the comfy chair yet. When he hears the shower (at about 7.20) he moves to lie down at the foot of the stairs waiting for the day to start (which is about ten minutes later when Paul comes down and takes him for his morning walk round the garden). When the routine is upset in any way he disapproves.
Re: What time does your lab wake up in the morning? Bella is starting to learn that our schedules change on the weekend - and that sleeping in with mommy and daddy is a GOOD thing. But during the week she gets up with me about 6am, goes potty, has her breakfast....and then goes back to bed to snuggle with daddy while I hit the shower. Apparently she is appreciating more morning snooze time since no one is really interested in playing with her.... She does get up again and follow me around while I gather my things and leave for work...but I suspect as soon as the door closes she heads back to bed with daddy! :
