Re: what treats do you guys use Bella loves cheese and sardines as treats oh and roast chicken , I tend tomuse them for recall training, in the house she eats her food biscuits as rewards ( James Wellbeloved).
Re: what treats do you guys use I read about some treats containing can't remember what its called but said another name for antifreeze?
Re: what treats do you guys use
I read about some treats containing can't remember what its called but said another name for antifreeze?
? No idea..... Natural treats are best than shop bought ones.
Re: what treats do you guys use Hi, I use Maisie's kibble, Skinners Field and Trial, Duck and Rice, carrots, frozen kongs, occasional rawhide chews, roast chicken, sardines/tuna.
Re: what treats do you guys use It was Propylene Glycol do you know anything about this further research has told me that article was wrong its not antifreeze but an ingredient in antifreeze
Re: what treats do you guys use
It was Propylene Glycol do you know anything about this further research has told me that article was wrong its not antifreeze but an ingredient in antifreeze
I think this might have been referenced regarding Purina, actually, and the class action lawsuit dealing with their "Beneful" line of dog foods… do a bit of googling and see if it's that. For commercial treats, we use Zukes (American company), sometimes Dick Von Dyke's Natural Balance soft jerky stuff, freeze dried soft treats from Orijen (Canadian company), and freeze dried sardines (local company). For non-commercial/human food type treats, Maisie eats: cheese, sardines, bits of hot dog - hot dog is the best yogurt, cream cheese (as a small mix with kibble in a kong) lots of fruit/veggies - most often bananas, but also strawberries, cucumber, carrot, peas, asparagus (bottom bit), etc cheerios sometimes I also soak her kibble and use that as "treats"/training, or stuff in a kong.
Re: what treats do you guys use I have stuck mainly to kibble for training Molly. She seemed quite happy with that and I was able to take it out of her allowance so didn't have to worry about over feeding her. You use an awful lot of training treats. If we are doing serious training cheese, frankfurters or chicken. Very small pieces.
Re: what treats do you guys use Kibble and breadsticks as low value treats, and when I throw treats outside because they fly pretty well and show up on the snow. Higher value treats are: roast chicken, frankfurters, cheese, homemade liver cake, homemade peanut butter and banana cake, dehydrated liver, beef fillet trimmings from a local restaurant! Highest value: Whitebait; tinned sardine and tuna blended and put in a baby food pouch for easy dispensing. I don't buy dog treats because I go through too many and it would cost a fortune!
Re: what treats do you guys use I use a range from Natures Menu which are 90% meat treats (they make both cat and dog treats which makes life easier in the household0 and use their freeze dried treats a extra special. Other treats I mainly use are James Wellbeloved Crackerjacks and MiniJacks which I break up into smaller pieces. Special treat is a quarter of an apple sometimes when I have one or a piece of carrot when I'm preparing vegetables.
Re: what treats do you guys use I currently use either small cubes of cheese or smoked sausage. For commercial treats we might use Bakers Rewards as they can be cut or broken pretty small. Softer small things i think are better because the dog doesn't stop to cruinch them. Don't know who saw the video of the dog being rescued using positive methods that Pippa shared in positive gundog on FB. Sorry can't do the link on my mobile. Apparently the main treat was raw steak but they also used a fish paste available from Ikea. That caught my interest. Not sure I am dedicated enough for baby food pouches Julie Seems a bit less unhealthy than the processed Primula perhaps. This stuff comes in fish or crab or roe flavours according to the website. Interesting.
Re: what treats do you guys use Our two have fish4dogs treats , usually the mini sea biscuits , they adore them and are ideal for pockets
Re: what treats do you guys use I use Barker and Barker treats as she needs so many for training and they are really small you can give a huge daily allowance. Plus all natural ingredients! For high value at the moment we are using HiLife 'treat me' treats. This week it's chicken but the next pack we have is smoky bacon flavour.
Re: what treats do you guys use Day to day, it's sea biscuits - they are convenient, don't have any nasties in them, and are actually lower calorie than just kibble, but he massively prefers them over kibble. After that, chicken, chicken frankfurters, prawns and sardines. I also buy fish4dog salmon strips (dried salmon) and sea wraps (fish skin wrapped round sweet potato). The only other commercial treats I buy is dried duck breast fillets, which you are supposed to give as a chew, but I cut them up for treats.

Re: what treats do you guys use I use Bonnie's kibble a lot as well so that I can keep track of her allowance. Great for hide and seek and also in her treat-ball! I've recently read some articles on diet and so I'm weaning us off biscuit-type treats and trying to use more natural things. Chopped up carrots which I then freeze for a quick-to-access treat. Ice-cubes are similar! Thin slices of cocktail sausages, tuna and chicken for recall training. We've steered away from cheese as I thought it was giving her a bit of dry skin but I think it might have been the kibble we were using so we've just gone back to cream cheese in a kong which she loves! Love the idea of whitebait and sardines - we'll get on to that one! The one exception I'll probably keep making with manufactured treats is the Smart Bones series - https://funstufffordogs.wordpress.com/2012/08/18/product-review-smart-bones/ Bonnie absolutely LOVES their "peanut butter balls with a little bit of chicken inside" She'll play with it for ages before finally eating it. I give her one in the morning to keep her occupied until I'm ready to go walkies as she's got lots of energy and that keeps her happy while I faff about!
Re: what treats do you guys use no it wasn't purina it was canine carry out bacon treats but its also in other treats

Re: what treats do you guys use This weekend with Bella, I had her usual mix of hotdogs, cheese, chicken, and other things...but we had some leftover pancakes from breakfast...so I cut them up into tiny bites and mixed it with the other things.... OMG...she LOVED them...bounced like a flipping pogo stick....barking...carrying on.... : : : Needless to say...I think I'll be making pancakes more often as they seem to be very high value for her...LOL Commercial treats that we use include zukes training bites, and darford naturals biscuits...neither are cheap, but they are all natural and stocked in my local stores in the USA.
