We are first time dog owners and just bought home our puppy 3 days back. He is a 2 month old lab. We were able to quickly crate train him. We take him in the morning and evenings in the backyard and he spends a good amount of time being with us playing and cuddling. We work from home and kids do their school work with us. During this time we would like the puppy to not be in the crate and so we decided to get a playpen. We have a double storied home so looking for something to carry up easily, but sturdy so that he does not knock it down when he grows up. What have been your fav brands of playpens? Please advice... Thank you!
Ours is made by Precision. It has 8, 30" high x 24" wide panels. It is reasonably sturdy, and not to heavy to carry, though I would not want to carry it up and down stairs every day. We used it as a pen when Tilly and then Cooper were pups. Now we use it to separate areas of the house during a remodel project, and also as a gate on the front deck. Some dogs might go over it, but ours were never inclined to. Cooper can jump into a Suburban bed that is higher than this fence, but she doesn't jump over or push on the Pen. We dog sit a Samoyed that will stay behind it with no problem also. Not all dogs are as compliant as ours, so your results may vary. We only used it as a pen in our kitchen for the first 4 or 5 months. After that we moved Cooper's crate into the kitchen because it was smaller. We didn't close the gate on the crate, it was just a quite place for her. I would not want a pen that I could not step into with the door open. I see some that just have a door in the side that doesn't go to the top of the pen. It would work alright as a pen, but not as barrier that you need to go through.
