If I Amy wonders off or goes for a sniff off the path what command should I use? If any, I guess really she shouldn't need one as should be following me anyway. This is how I have lost " here" for our recall as I say it to get her moving too, not just to come to me directly.
Re: What's your command I use 'this way' to keep riley within a set distance and 'here' as our verbal recall when I expect him to come to me. Does that help?
Re: What's your command I use 'this way' too... they don't have to come right back, just use the same path heading in the same direction! ;D The whistle is my recall signal. Clare
Re: What's your command i just say come for recall, this way if he wonders off,......for heal i say here
Re: What's your command Mine commands are "come" for recall but whistle 2 peeps, if they wonder off I say "lets go" and "heel" for on and off lead work. Good luck Jade x
Re: What's your command 'This way' works for us too. It's not a recall, just an 'oi, where do you think you're off to?!'
Re: What's your command I use 'this way' if Harley is starting to wander off. I use 'come' for recall. Hope this helps
Re: What's your command Thank you. Will take more care with what I am saying just when I want her to move.
Re: What's your command
Thank you. Will take more care with what I am saying just when I want her to move.
Hi Jade, I've had to concentrate more on what I say.....I realised when I was wanting Dexter to loose lead walk I would say 'walk' then when we had trotted along a bit at heel I would say ok.....meaning great Dex,we are doing ok.....OK is Dexters release word : so he would bound off again pulling thinking he'd been released from the heel position : I've actually trained myself not to waffle onto him when we are out and about on walks, training or excercise so that he doesn't tune me out....when he's lying having a cuddle or milling around my legs in the house it's a different story though ;D x
Re: What's your command I have realised what I have been doing wrong........ Talking to much! Her heel/ loose lead has improved massively over the last two weeks! I found it too hard with clicker, treat and lead in my hand. And I got out of the habit of using the clicker correctly! So I was saying "good" and giving her her treat for been in the right place....only I am a sloppy trainer and she has learnt that " good " and getting a treat means she can be realised. So she has learned " good " is her release word too!
Re: What's your command
I use 'this way' to keep riley within a set distance and 'here' as our verbal recall when I expect him to come to me. Does that help?
me too
