I can just about remember some of the smattering of German I learned at school. I always aspired to be good at languages but really I should have just stuck to maths and science ;D

Marsagan Kilchurn. No idea what it means or where it came from.

Holly's dad is Hiraethog Merry Wizard. No idea what that's all about either but I tell myself Harry Potter had an influence.

    Lucan is Belvedere Nootkatensis.

Belvedere as all the pups were named after characters from the legend of King Arthur and the Knights of the round table. Also where we got his pet name.

Nootkatensis (a very dark conifer) as the breeder was trying to find plants/shrubs with very dark leaves/flowers to suit the all black litter.

As Molly was the 5th litter she cannot be registered, though both her parents were KC registered as were their previous litters.

However her mum was Lady Golden Osprey ( classy huh)

Her dad was Judith's Dark Fancy (sounds he belongs in a blue movie)

Meg is really Skeeby Beck Bramble. She was born on Skeeby Beck and her mum is Bramble. I love it . She is Meg as my boys school reading books at the time were all about a dog called Meg :)

Wow there's some fantastic names popping up here! It's really interesting to see the variations. I'm sad that Penny doesn't have a kennel name, I feel like we can't link her to any possible ancestors.

Out two are pedigree but not KC registered so they don't have pedigree names. Our last lab Max was, his name was Danby Star which we loved x

All the girls in Nellies litter were named after flowers and she was registered as Black Dahila.
I thought it was a beautiful name until I googled it!

"The Black Dahlia" was a nickname given to Elizabeth Short, an American woman who was the victim of a gruesome and much-publicised murder"

Welcome to the forum, Carolyn :) You will have to get the breeder to give you some pronunciation lessons for that one!! :)

    Lilly is Claire of Cleikimin.
I think Cleikimin is a place that there was a family link with for the breeder.
I vetoed her being called Clara....FAR to posh!

Obi is 'Jarkk Knight to Dream'.

All these pedigree names make our human names seem so terribly boring ;D

I am getting Jack from my son, who re-homed him from someone else, so no chance of finding out how to pronounce it! Son Greg uses him for beating with the local shoot but doesn't really have room for him in his kennels so he is coming to me, to join my cocker spaniel and ancient Stafford :)

    Re: What's your pedigree name?

My breeder doesn't name his dogs - he lets the new owners do all that. All his dogs are named after their fathers, so I named my puppy after her mother. Daisy's AKC name is Ebonstar's Daisy Mae.

My Murphy is Blaine Boy. Blaine being Celtic for slim or slender, bit odd really as he`s a chunky fella! ;)
